I remember the first time I had a peek at the Japanese street fashions. Years ago I stumbled across Fruits. http://www.fruits-mg.com/xnew/e/index.html BTW Is Gothic Lolita still in Vogue?
That's comic strip is crazy - we all know you become immediately accepted & fit into another culture by collecting its toys.
The cartoonist may have done other strips, but I snagged that one from a collection of neat images here: http://imgur.com/gallery/
I'm totally sorry for being an ignorant uncultured fuck but they look like they got caught in a twister that hit a Goodwill store. oh god,,lol,,im still sneezing out coffe outta my nose,,,,sorry lol
Gothic Lolita & visual kei fashions are still going strong. The ganguro or, at their extreme, yamanba girls ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ganguro ) have all but disappeared however. I think they grew up into kogals? Saddest of all (I think) LOOSE SOCKS seem to have gone out of fashion. "Fruits" is an awesome magazine. You can look at really old copies, and they still seem fresh.
I think I'd be happy going to Tokyo and just people watching, I wouldn't care if I didn't even get to any toy stores.
I highly recommend a trip to Meiji Jingu for a Swallows game. Beer girls with beer backpacks rule the day.
this thread went from interesting to funny to hilarious I have a few must stops when I go, but no where near the frenzy I did in the beginning If you love cities, and I do, Tokyo is one of the most amazing in the world.
