Just wondering if there is a Japanese equivalent of the Skullbrain.org forums. Where Japanese collector's have their own little community where they talk toys, sell, and post pics. I really want to see some pics of their collections and such.
That would be awesome to see... man I bet some of the collections people have over there would blow my mind.
There totally has to be i bet someone like livingdead would have an answer for this particular question
This topic actually surfaces now and then... I've spoken to a few Japanese collectors and it appears there isn't. They just lurk here... There's a few threads/groups on Mixi, but that's it. I mentionned starting one to a few collectors, who were interested, but I don't have the technical knowledge to do it. I just want to be a mod.
I asked this to one of our Japanese members, and I was pointed to a few 4chan-styled (I don't know how else to describe it) threads discussing Secret Base... But that's about it! I could only imagine the Marketplace of a Japanese toy forum to be have much more than ours!
I can tell you this: it does exist, and everything is exactly the same except the forum members have goatees.
Me too and I'm assuming so . . . I bet the other board kicks ass! Given the current economy . . . not so much!
I think a lot of us are on the wrong Skullbrain then. I have tried recommending SB to all the local collectors I have run into, but none seem to willing to take the leap. As has been said, though the collective of sofubi fans is incredibly massive (and maybe due in part because of it) the community is not really the same as for us. Vinyl toys are just another niche of the giant otaku market, and I think the Japanese collectors tend to travel in their own circles. So if you want in on the bizarro SB by the way, I am making this one time mention of it only to confirm it exists. And you are not invited (unless you can flash me the secret sign)
Interesting. Anyway thanks for all the info guys. btw, in Bizarro Skullbrain, does everyone collect western vinyl?
I've actually felt like this for quite a while. My collection owns me now, NOT teh other way around. I tried breaking its hold by moving it to storage, but its breaking out and into my life again. Its seemingly unstoppable....
