Wow that was pretty funny read. I love how some members here posted to sign up using d*unny in their username. That would be hilarious. Overall we're not that scary are we?
It's all relative. If you think jumping into a community with little insight to what it is and just opening your mouth and saying/asking all sorts of crap without thought is OK and then when you get snubbed or told to shut it because you crossed lines of respect that you should use in the real, non-internet world is being treated unfairly, than maybe it is a bit scary. But myself, I'd never walk into some small club or bar or store where there's an obvious group of locals who know each other and just act like I'm "one of them." It's a public place, so me being there isn't WEIRD, but I'd just chill, look around, observe, if I had a question I REALLY can't answer myself by just looking around, than it's cool and I'd ask. If I introduce myself, say "hey, this is cool, I'm interested" and be respectful, it's cool, no one cares. But if I walked in and start barking about all sorts of junk that has nothing to do with the type of place I'm in and tried blending in with no reason and asking questions where the answer is sitting on a shelf in front of me with a sign ("how much is this?" ::sign above says $1.50: I wouldn't be shocked if I got a cold stare or snotty remark. This isn't Wal Mart. When I joined, this board had the most mature and laid back attitude I've ever seen on an internet message board, people were truly helpful if help was TRULY needed and no one saw it as being "elitist" or "jerky" at the time. Like someone mentioned in that particular thread, act on the internet like you would in person. Treat this board as a small club or bar. Though public, it takes a while to settle in and be respectful and aware and if you're NOT don't be surprised to be treated not-so-warmly. It's pretty easy.
Haha, that's great stuff. Blooddrinker nailed it though. The best way to get the lay of the land for any new situation, be it forum or local watering hole, is to just keep your head down and your ears open.
They got me pegged. I really DO always go check the KR boards for the latest Dumbly releases. Oh man, don't get me started on my Dumblies, I got a million of 'em!
most of us are self righteous pricks they say...I say, what's wrong with that? Better to be known as something that not be known at all. but I am curious to know what they consider kaiju...especially from a guy named supercollector.
Ha, hilarious. They've really got a point with the bumps disguised as proper answers though... I've always been wondering what's up with that over here!
That's hillarious alright. Nobody seems to realize who alienated and slagged who first. About "Cheap stupid looking toys" and "That's one gay-ass paint job" that maybe chased some people away. That western shit must have a high turnover rate of a fanbase as memories there seem to go back as far as a one month. Take a look in the mirror go "Yo that's sick" and long live SB!
i hope the person behind this quote joins up here: I like Kaiju but you know Kaiju is quit expensive, so how come you can dig a lot for Kaiju man... and not all the design are nice, haha. fun stuff!
Some of them seem scarred for life over this board. Is it really that bad for some people? Im fairly new and had no problems, but I learned what this board was about by reading first and asking questions later.
