i wonder how much this paperweight is going to cost?

 

I actually find this piece amusing. I actually think KAWS may be poking fun at himself here through his character and if so I a have to give him credit for this one.

 

It's a stab at this. pretty funny actually

The companion looks like its cowering in fear because its been abused or touched in its dirty places..

I thought the exact same thing. It looks like it had a run in with a tentacle monster or something.

 

this is pretty awesome. more and more, i'm being drawn to kaws stuff, because i like a good sense of humor.

I like the idea but the poses look ridiculous. It strays too far from the original it is trying to parody and whatever message it is trying to convey is unclear.

 

I actually looked at it and viewed it quite differently.

At first glance..I thought the 'kaws toys' was buckling over with laughter. It's like he's almost amused and laughing at the 'artist kaws' own self worth.

 

First place my thoughts went too.

 

The message is quite clearly mickey liked working with walt, but KAWS abuses his companions.

it has satirical elements, esp when you consider the pose of the companion. I like it but it looks more like a bronze statue than a vinyl figure (probably intentional as well).

i thought the companion was keeled over with embarrassment.

 

I actually like it. I am also a big fan of the Walt and Mickey statue so maybe that's why. But my take on it is that Kaws is standing up for his creations maybe because there has been so much controversy against his art..but this is my opinion. I hope there is a story behind it from Kaws.

 

Looks like Brian is hailing a cab while the companion is bent over in agony from being kicked in the nether regions.

 

I would have liked it more if the companion was standing upright.

 

My first impression: the figure thinks the artist became a big joke, at this point.

The Disney bronze retailed for $135... Bronze may still be a possibility. But you're probably right and it aint

 

It says plastic on toyqube, if that means anything.
