im glad w picked up those companions when i first started collecting for $300 ( to bad i still need the brown 5yl)bucks each and i though that was crazy money at the time i find it funny as i look back at what i use to think was crazy money and what ill shell out now even when i sold off my (explentive delete) for what i though was good money i look at them now and could get a hell of a lot more
haha...kanye is such a skullbrainer wannabee edit: btw...not even a month after sdcc I picked up a black dissected for like $400 and a month later they started hitting the 1k mark. Did Mr. fashion rap post this video somewhere around that time vicinity?
Yeah it was in June(I think). Douche mentioned something about getting the Dissected for his B'day. Prices for Kaws were bottoming out back then, but I think --NT-- made a really good point, his new stuff is such crap that people started to go after the old stuff hard also. Kanye hype + crappy new shit = $$ Found this on Kaws' blog also. Does he ever take that hat off? http://blog.honeyee.com/kaws/archives/2 ... _kill.html
well... the kaws 5yl and the dissected are the greatest and most noteworthy piece of western vinyl. the ultimate status symbol of any western vinyl collector. if kanye hyped any other western vinyl, i'd ask myself "why didn't he use a kaws 5yl?"
Dude, the guy is a nerd just like the rest of us. Why is he a DB? As long as he doesn't start collecting Empire, I am safe
I remember buying a 5YL Companion sight unseen for $150 retail from GR. And buying another at TT also at retail and they were just sitting around.
i'm far from an O.G., i've only been collecting for just under 2yrs but i have never seen a dissected or a 5y companion in that time (on ebay at least) go for less than $900 US.
and re: the cap question, i don't think i've ever seen him without it on either. looks like one of those military/marine cap joints that were popular in hardcore circa '02-'04.
dissecteds are cool, but I've never really understood the Kaws hype. why so much love for him among sofubi fans?
I think it's mostly "designer toy" fans who have come over here from elsewhere. Lots of us still collect that evil stuff.
I liked KAWS before his "designer" toys existed. Now I'm extremely disappointed with what he's become, though I still kinda keep myself informed in case he happens to do something good again. But I don't expect that to happen. But I wouldn't exactly say I'm a sofubi fan - there's just as much J vinyl that I don't like as there is Western vinyl. But the J vinyl I don't like doesn't suck, I just don't care for it - most Western vinyl just plain sucks.
some of his toys are the best. dissected? insane. others..not so good..hence the WIDE disparity on prices. you cant give bendies or cat banks away..but my full set of Chums will bring what..4000 now?
Chums are explosive, the last yellow sold for $1100 + As a set? Frank's dead on... $4k sounds about right. On a sidenote, I'm looking for a full Bendies set and as far as the age old Kaws question goes... you either like him or you don't.
I have been a Kaws admirer for quite some time, but just recently actually got the gumption to get some pieces. My first one? From the gentleman above me
Zoiks! That almost makes me want to sell, but not quite. $1000+ in profit if pretty damn good though. But the Chums are among my favorite, if not THE favorite.
