    Hi all!

I am pleased to announce that the project I've been quietly working on for the past couple months has finally come to fruition and is ready to rear its ugly head! Introducing the Killer Culture line of resin figures. For the full scoop, check out the news at my site:

    http://prometheusrising.wordpress.com/2010/07/03/the-studio-killer-culture/

And check out the first strain, E.killer, who is sculpted and ready for paint:

Please let me know what you guys think! The first wave of figures should be painted in the next few days and ready to show.

Re: Killer Culture resin: New Culture Sighted!

Pouring the first half of the last mold for E.killer v2. There's a line-wide change starting with this guy that I think you guys are going to love. The new molds are also vastly cleaner, so there's less cleanup to do. I'm thinking there will be a second E.killer drop at the end of October, while I clean up and prepare the second figure for molding.

So, I wasn't happy with how the arm joint came out on the first set of figures... I decided to make all the joints on my figures magnetic instead, and I'm thrilled with how it came out!

Saw these today. And they're really sharp. Ben can paint, that's for sure.

    Re: Killer Culture: Antomacrobial Microbot!

Rough iPod pics straight from the workbench, but I'm really excited about this and wanted to get some thoughts.

I saw a post over at Overkill Creations calling customizers to develop new MUSCLE style minifigures as part of an open collaboration to continue the line. I am too young to have played with MUSCLE figures, but I did love the heck out of Z-bots, a similar line of pocket sized robots that were fully painted and articulated. I had been beginning to brainstorm a set of micro robots designed to fight the Killer Culture macrobial threats, and Mad Joe’s idea pushed me over the edge. This is the sum of two evenings’ work, and the figure is now just waiting for the Apoxy Sculpt details to dry so I can clean them up and apply a primer coat to sand.

Fluff and more details will be forthcoming. This guy will not be like the second bacteria sculpt I teased, which proved a little too ambitious for my current setup, but there’s more in the future of that design. If all goes according to plan (and it likely will, since I will be snowed in most of the week), there should be casts of this guy by the weekend!

I know my bacterial monster designs are a bit of an acquired taste, but a couple of people told me I should take a crack at something mecha-ey with all my robot background. I think this guy is looking much stronger than the E.killer, and I also think he'll be much more 'make-able' as a single piece figure using everything I learned on the E.killer.

    NICE!!!
    I love robots
What is the size of this guy? Will it have articulation?

    Re: Killer Culture: Antimacrobial Microbot!

Thanks. He stands a hair taller than a regular Glyos figure, if that helps... about 3" tall and 3" from gun tip to gun tip. He ended up bigger than the MUSCLE style that inspired him apparently, but I have never actually handled a MUSCLE figure to know that. No articulation on this guy because I wanted something quicker to mold during my busy college schedule, but other guys I sketched up at the same time have the potential for arm articulation.

Nice, that guy is looking great. Love the small scale and that it's styled as a muscle tribute.

    Re: Killer Culture: Antimacrobial Microfighter

So, here's a just-finished hot off the workbench shot to prove I'm making progress:

More details and real pics to follow... one is going to be further detailed and sent off to the Kaiju for Japan effort, along with the Glyos fig shown here in parts. I was going for Medic colors like PK's Junker or Ashley Wood's bots, and they're close to what I had in mind, but they subconciously ended up a little closer to a certain favorite Z-bot of mine:
And I'm totally OK with that. There's a bunch of surprises still for the first release, and I am really excited with how these have come out.

Design-wise, the Microfighter feels more like a 'toy' to me than the E.killer does, and that's really what I was shooting for. This guy was designed with a 'flat' profile so he could be the kind of figure you throw in your pocket and bring with you, and I have been doing just that with one. I will definitely get back to articulation with the next robot design, but I am having a ton of fun with this guy and am cooking up all sorts of cool paint schemes!
