I'm originally from LA so I'll chime in. Yeah,I'll be there. If I can find out what's going on with the other LA guys I'll probably roll with them. If I have to though I'll take a Greyhound bus, which was my original plan. Either way I'm there!!!! HMS,Turtlegod....let me know what's up guys!!! Thanks.
Looks like we may need to rent a car/van. Also we need a place to crash for saturday night. And I need to fix a schedule conflict or I"ll be stuck in LA for the weekend. If anyone wants to share a ride/accommodations post in this here thread. SF or bust for Ikkashinju!! Greyhound is too hardcore for me.
man..... if I didn't have a wife and 2 sick kids, you guys would totally be welcome to stay at my pad.
I don't think I can make it - got sick after the flight back, and also...surprise, surprise...over spent. Actually, after the flight from Tokyo coupled with delays, and immigration hassles, I don't feel like travelling for a while. Wish I could make it tho - I think you will all have a blast - like we did when we went up for Koji's show!
I'm really excited because I am about 90% sure I'm coming out there. Bit of a ride from Arizona but my dad wants to see what vinyl is all about and why I collect all this bull shit. haha
Pete, Depending on how many of us there will be I think we can stay at my friends apartment for the night on Saturday. His name is Martin. He is a really great guy and I think there will be no problem. Like I said though I would like to know how many there will be. I I know of yourself,Drunken Rick,HMS,and myself. I can greyhound it to LA on Thursday night and stay at my moms that night and then meet up with you guys Friday night or Saturday morning. Let's work this out asap because I would love to hang out with you guys and possible grow a friendship with more people on this board. If it don't work out,it'll still be cool and I'll greyhound it up north on Thursday night. Friday night Martin's band N.N.(the same Martin who we can crash with)is playing a show at Gilman St with Outraged and Boom Boom Kid from Argentina so I might hit that up. If any of you Care Martin is also the guy who was the singer for Los Crudos and currently the singer for gay hardcore band Limp Wrist(amongst other groups). He is a really amazing guy and always willing to help me out when I need it. Get back to me guys...we can do this together!!!
Sounds RAD! Wish I could come along. Years ago I saw Pansy Division play a great show at COney Island High in NYC - altho not hardcore, they were punk as fuck - returning to play an encore of a punked up JudasPriest classic Breakin the Law - bacuase, as they pointed out, it was illegal to play naked in NY at teh time (and may well still be illegal for all I know).
Pansy Division were pretty good live. I like them allot. I still think the best queer-core band I ever saw was(next to Limp Wrist)Go! from NYC on the late 80's in LA. I think only Mike Bullshit was queer but man they fucking destroyed!!! On record they were pretty unique but live they reminded me or Citizens Arrest and Rorshach!
Anybody got any word on anything??? I'm off tomorrow and Saturday(both days)from work at 3:30. Give me a call guys and we'll see what's up.
Pansy Division played Boston Pride a few years back and they were incredible. We went to see them and the show was outdoors on Boston Common , and in typical Boston fashion, there was NOBODY there to see them. They ran through a bunch of songs, and then during some dialogue said "Oh we take requests..yeah right like anyone here cares...". So of course I yelled out "bill and Ted's" (they have a song called bill and ted's homosexual adventure") the singer does a double take...sees us...and then they tear into it and played with the biggest smiles for the rest of the show. They were cool guys...totally crazy in a good way. back to your road trip...sorry for the sidetrack... as an aside...coney island high...wow...i went there years ago with a friend who was dj'ing a drum n bass night. that place was er....interesting to say the least.
Bill n Ted's Homosexual Adventure - I remember that, wasn't that their first single? The dude who is the bass player lives in LA, and is also in the GaGa's - all male GoGo's tribute band.
uh oh!! were you there for Konkrete Jungle on a monday night??? yes,,interesting to say the least!!! if it was between 96'-98',,,i may well have been MC'ing that night
haha....i was there probably around 97 i think. it was konkrete jungle. the group i hung with back then included two dj's casper and timestretch, and i'm also friends with an MC Mike D and MC Rumble. I was there with timestretch and rumble. if you were an MC there, I'm sure we have a lot of friends in common as I hung out down there quite often during that time frame.
Wheels in motion on the LA to SF trip(well for me it's the SD to LA to SF trip). This is gonna be fun!!!
