I don't how to put this one into decent words. It's actually a tough loss for me. Poet, man, songwriter, orator, genius. There isn't even one song I would be able to highlight as meaning so much to me; the opus that is his work is marked with such brilliance and touching soul, it crosses genres and spans cultures. I don't even think comparisons to Bob Dylan are necessarily apt, but at least it begins to touch on his profound ability to capture and express deep sentiment with seeming ease and simplicity. And that voice; well, if you heard it, you knew. The man knew how to make you feel both such deep heartbreak and utter joy. And for an artist whose work spans so many decades, and impacted multiple generations, it truly speaks to his talent and appeal. To have lost him so soon after his latest album (on which he reflects significantly on his mortality), is a difficult one. This has been a pretty terrible year in general for taking away great souls from this world. Fare thee well to a great man, and many thanks for what you have given to this world, and to myself personally. A legend and native son I will not soon forget. May he rest in peace, and this be only the start of yet another amazing journey. Leonard Cohen [1934 - 2016]
That was really nice @ultrakaiju. I enjoyed reading it, bud, as sad as it is. We lose important people every year, but this year's taken some of my favorite musicians. At least the majority of em lived fairly long and full lives.
