Aren't both Puritanism and violence American traditions that go hand in hand..? Over here it's "violence bad, boobies okay," and while I don't approve of censorship in the first place I'm generally okay with that. For further education on the subject just check out this German commercial from the late 80ies (NSFW, I guess). The Black Heart Menargo has a handful of blue GID beads thrown in - I never knew about the death rattle concept behind them, though! Makes me love it even more.
Yeah America... All the recent shootings have really been making the nutters vocal. Some going to the extent of calling for civil war over political division, gun rights, and a return to conservatism. Sure let's kill thousands even millions, so your kids don't have to witness sexual themes on prime time television and are properly brought up in a Christian community. As far as Japanese censoring their porn, yeah, I had forgot about that. But googled it, hopefully this is true enough. "Porn was first seriously restricted in Japan in the Meiji Era, when materials deemed “injurious to public morals” were banned [thanks to the introduction of Victorian morals from the West]. After Japan’s defeat in WW2, American occupation authorities changed many of Japan’s laws to guarantee freedom of speech and expression. Sadly, the occupation authorities decided that the pre-existing law regarding pornography didn’t need to be changed. It has remained in effect to this day. While the 60 years after World War II saw the acceptance of uncensored pornography as freedom of expression in the West, Japan continued to consider it “injurious to public morals.” One still cannot legally buy a movie featuring fully visible hardcore action." Kind of silly, but I guess that's what humans do. They come up with all types of silly rationales to pardon their behavior.
The back of it is so cool, I really want one, im just going to stare at the pics, since I probably wont be able to scrap coin for one in a while Look at that thing, so cool!
Unless you somehow closed up the neck joint (which would make it kinda hard to fill up in the first place), it would take a LOT of goop to make this work... Anyway, I want one just for the cup with that great sticker & the goop bag!
I really like this toy but the Vader is terrible. I would love to see a "virus" version with all "craters" painted different colors, or similar to the 1 on the Vader.
I'm not a big fan of the hands or tentacles and that thing he has on the back. Otherwise I love the idea of bringing back ooze, surprised to see more that one version out there at the same time. Hoping to score a green unpainted version to go with the Secret Base micro.
The black is gorgeous! Not only because I like black, the paint is really good in real. It looks like minimally painted but its actually painted nearly all over.
I'm not believing you Joe. The Vader tribute looks nice. I'd have liked to see it with a body that did not have a matt finish and throw out the sword(It looks awful).
I guess I'm the minority, I love that Vader. I love the real crude look to it and the use of both gloss and matte. The sword is odd but its already grew on me. Besides if its that bad just take it out its hand.
Yes the sword comes separately, like the snake that comes with the green ver. Matt is cool! Like those Matt black pieces hiddy display at sb.
Completely agree. I kind of like how it's a combination of different paints and a Vader tribute is the last thing I would have expected from this toy. I know some people are tired of it but given the right toy it works for me. I still really like the train in mouth green painted first version. It's just fantastic.
I love these figures. I like the influence between the cultures, the paint apps thus far, including the Vader. I'd like to know if there is any paint app on the back or if it's just all black. Cape is covering it so I don't know. Anyone know what these originally sell for and how to get them directly rather than the secondary market yet?
The green is classic, I'll need to figure out some bait for one. The 2 new Wonderfest ones are cool too. I like the idea of taking a bootleg toy and bootlegging it. Hell, it's what most "sofubi" or "neo kaiju" makers are all about. It warms my heart to see it still happening.
