Yeah, she's cool. I haven't seen the first episode but i will soon.
The only distracting thing for me, is her character name 'Sam Fox' . . . which is the name of one of the most famous UK Page 3 'glamour girls'
    who i had a crush on from my pre-pubescent past . . .

@The Moog - This Sam Fox?
The record shops were filled, back in the day, with unsold copies of her nude picture discs. Such fond mammaries, eh?

Yeah, I've been looking forward to Adlon's show for a while now. Too tired to give it a look last night, but today for sure. Another show from Louie's production company, Pig Newton, just had its debut: Tig Notaro's One Mississippi. Had a look at the first two and liked them a lot; super sad and dryly funny and super sad.

Louie Anderson was very good as his mother . . . .

Superb episode of The Vulture TV Podcast last week:
    http://podbay.fm/show/969523266/e/1478581200?autostart=1
It begins with an excellent in-depth interview with Pamela Adlon, moves on to an engaging chat about the state of election coverage in late night television, and ends with a spoken essay that absolutely gets to the heart of what made Adlon and C.K's Better Things and Donald Glover's Atlanta the best and most unique projects on the whole of the tube.

    This just in:

Hello folks. It’s been a long time since I’ve written to you. I’m doing it now because I’m offering a new film on my site and app called “Check It”.

Check It is a documentary that I saw a little over a year ago at the Tribeca film festival here in New York. Steve Buscemi is an executive producer on the film and we were, at the time, winding up production of our series “Horace and Pete”. Anyway Pete, I mean Steve! invited me to a screening of this film and I went because he’s a good guy.

The film knocked me right over. It was an amazing emotional ride. It was funny and moving, I learned a lot and it gave me a lot to think about after.

"Check It" was made over 4 years. Directed by Toby Oppenheimer and Dana Flor. It’s about a gay black street gang in DC (the only one documented in the country) made up of kids who were living on the streets and easy targets for violence and harassment. They started this gang to protect each other. They made a family where they didn’t have one.

It’s not an easy film. It takes on life right where the rubber hits the road. What made me love it was just the kids themselves. They are like any kids, like anyone’s children. They are trying to cope against terrible odds, they are funny and full of hope and life. Their lives are difficult and complex. They are very generous in sharing this with the filmmakers and you, if you watch the film.

The film also portrays a wonderful guy who is a social worker and he looks after the gang and tries to influence them to have a better life. That guy is an inspiration. Also a young guy who teaches them fashion and is incredibly patient and focused, trying to teach kids who live on the streets, and give them guidance when all they’ve known is neglect and violence. Also there’s a guy who is teaching one of the kids to box. All these people are examples that show that the will to reach out and help someone with consistency and love is everywhere.

Look, I know this isn’t what you’re expecting from me. Nor am I the guy you’re expecting to get this film from. I guess that’s why I’m doing this. When I saw this film, I knew that no one I know will ever see it. Documentaries are MUCH harder to make than the things that I do and they are FAR more expensive to the filmmakers in terms of their time and their lives and their emotional energy. And nobody much watches them. Those who do watch documentaries are usually people who are likely to be interested in the subject they cover already. But what a great value there is in showing people films about something that just isn’t on their radar. So that’s why I asked Steve, and Wren Arthur, who produced the film, if I could host "Check It" on my site so that lots of people can see it who may not have had it put in front of them.

I do this with great confidence because it’s a powerful film and I know that, whoever you are, you’re going to love it.

Check It can be bought, like everything else on my site, for 5 dollars. A simple pay and then download or stream process, or even more easily on my app, where you can just pay and watch with one click on any device or on your Apple TV.

I cut together an introduction, mixed with their trailer, which you can watch on YouTube or you already have on your device if you have my app installed.

Anyway, that’s it. I hope you all have a terrific summer. I hate the word terrific. But it just fits there so well.

    Best wishes,

    Louis CK

Whelp, kinda wish I'd mentioned this a few weeks ago, all things considered, but Better Things was utterly fantastic this year. Might not be for all, but it was just so screaming true at every turn. Personal, engaging, unpredictable and hilarious. Fucking loved every minute of it.

@leili Agree. I thought about posting back when I first learned about the "rumors". Don't know why I didn't, was surprised to see nobody hadn't when it became a story. For what it's worth, at least his statement seems sincere... :?

It's like Skinner said, all these celebrities gotta staaap masturbating at people. Just staaap it. It's highly disturbing and ludicrous all at the same time. What are these dudes thinking. There are numerous avenues for men and women to legally and legitimately get their rocks off with consenting partners or by themselves. There is no need for whipping it out on an unsuspecting female or male. Just staaap it. It's gross. And this is coming from someone with a pretty filthy sense of humor. Staaap.

Since it went public and not just rumours, i keep thinking I'd heard or seen stuff about this before. I could swear CK has previously talked about getting his dick out in front of women, maybe on a podcast or something? Or a character talks about it on one of his TV shows?

Regardless, its very disappointing to say the least.

I’m done with it. Everyone in politics and comedy is replaceable. It is it’s own kind of dark move that he’s such a fan of Allen.

I liked his comedy bc I thought he legitimately thought about things without acting on them.

What a POs for letting himself, and everyone that thought the cesspool that comedy is, think that we had a chance.

A lot of dipshittery going on in this area coming (ugh) to light recently. Disappointed in him. Like gatiio, I appreciated that his mind would go places, but he seemed like a solid guy. The humor was the contrast between the two, and without saying it, we knew it...or thought so, anyway.

I still want to see Check It though. I find gang life in America interesting. I'm lucky I didn't have to make some of the choices others had to make just to survive day to day.

When I first heard about it I thought it was utterly ridiculous and offensive but not to the degree of lots of the other stories coming out lately. It sounded like he was just masturbating with someone in the room without explicit permission. Awful yes of course but the lack of actually laying his hands on anyone put it the the Less Than category as far as all the rape and attempted rape stories about other famous people recently.

That is until I saw a woman on CNN who he had formally apologized to. She told the story of how he literally grabbed her and pushed he into a small bathroom and starting doing his thing. For me that bridged the gap between disgustingly ridiculous and pathetic into fuck this piece of shit enjoy being on the opposite side of the coin in prison.

Though like all the other millionaires I'm sure he won't get in any actual trouble. Sure they will all lose money and opportunities but that doesn't equate at all.

And to think Pee-Wee Herman had his entire life destroyed for masturbating during an actual porno. Seems like a saint now!
