I live downtown SF...about 10 stories high and these make my house shake, they fly over sooo low sometimes! Blue Angels are cool and all but seems a waste of tax dollars (in the millions of dollars) to have them buzzing around overhead all weekend...for no reason...imho.
Fleet Week. It comes around every year. I'm indifferent about it. Some years I'll watch it, and other years I won't. It is nice to see some planes that I might have never seen. This year they brought an old MiG-15. That was a nice surprise.
I'm pretty indifferent too, having lived with this all my life. What they do is very impressive, but it's always pretty much the same show. The loudness has actually been triggering car alarms in my 'hood, and of course the dogs freak out. So do some people, sometimes for "real life" reasons.
I'm all for anything that bothers Chris Daly! There are a lot of visitors because of this event which is great for SFs economy, so not really a waste. I used to live next to Ghiradelli SQ, so yeah, it was deafening but didn't impact my life because the plane part of Fleet week doesn't last long anyway.
I never get tired of looking at military jets. I wish they try to get one of the newer Su or MiGs. I remember seeing one doing the Cobra and then followed by an F-16. That was a sight to see.
Not as bad as my moms house. She lives in southern New Mexico near Holloman Air Force Base...they have the new Raptors which sonic boom (or Freedom Boom as Lokash would call them) all the time...now that sound gets your attention
