I slept on the last version of this dude and am still kicking myself (PM button below, hehe).

Does anybody have any information on the origins for Repho and the other 'Space Kaiju'? Anything is apprecaited, as I absolutely love the super-alien nature of this dude. Colorway is intense, too.

I'm an idiot. Apologies akum6n.

Still a totally rad sculpt, and I'm glad to see a new colorway.

@akum6n: did you take advantage of picking up the reprints of those books...the ones that Shikaruna put out with the 4-arm zag a month or so ago?

I guess I still have questions as to the 'Space Kaiju'-ness of these particular Marmit sculpts...maybe I'm just not reading carefully enough, but it still seems mysterious.

    Either way. Repho. Yay.

I think we need to see those books, which I unfortunately did not pick up. (Although I think they are still available.)

What did you mean by 'space kaiju'-ness? Like specific origin details, bio, etc.? I think Marmit may have written something about Rehho when they released the first version. I'll check the blog later today...

The Space Kaiju question was in reference to the 'grouping' of Rehho/Repho into what appears to be a 'line' of Space Kaiju. Just looking at the current offering on the S7 Preorders page, Hukkokudo and Marmit both seem to be using the term. Maybe it's just a coincidence, maybe it doesn't mean anything...it was just curious to me.

I think it's just sort of a generic descriptive, like "_ Seijin." That's probably not the best example, since it actually is part of the name.

A lot of kaiju actually have those sorts of terms in their full name, but we just drop them as a matter of convenience (or because we can't read the kanji, which is usually the character set used). For example, the Ultraman kaiju, Zetton, is actually named "Uchuu Kyouryuu Zetton," which translates to "Space Dinosaur Zetton." But that's sort of cumbersome, so most people just call him "Zetton." I don't know- does that make sense?

So Rehho probably just uses Uchuu Kaijuu (Space Kajiu) as a descriptive term in the same way. Panshida might have also been referred to as an Space Kaiju, but can't recall offhand.

Again with the ridiculous knowledge and patience. Thanks much. Preordered the new one, and plover hooked me up with his orange glitter version. Gogo Rehho.

Nice! Marmit's versions of these guys seem really clean and well-executed. Sometimes they remind me more of scientific models than toys.

Most of this is new to me as well. It's always fun to look up stuff/minutiae because I end up learning things in the process.
