@deafmetal Mark, that is such a great study in scale, thanks for taking the time to line 'em up and post this. It's quite impressive to see the classic Goji family altogether like that. And I do really like the Iwakura fella, so I am glad you decided to include him in there. @Headhunter While technically a reissue, the original figure was not actually vintage, but an original Marusan sculpt from 2004 (the grey version) I believe. Nevertheless, the '68 Goji is really a beauty, and a great pickup, especially locally. Jealous of being in a place where you can actually just walk into a shop and buy soft vinyl toys. Love the green colour on this one, and of course it's a great sculpt. Congrats on a great character Godzilla as your first, but we wary, it can quickly become a very slippery slope from here on in.
Amazing! I've been wanting to add a Gorosaurus to my collection but have been waiting for something as dope as this.
@Lixx - Thank you! @decypher - The lucky bag was definitely a lucky grab. Here are all the versions that were in the SF70 bags:
^^ My fav has to be the green unpainted and green painted because i'm green biased. Can't go wrong with paint on lime green.
This is a fantastic shot, and I just found out that there's one more size! Kaminaga-san told me that when the Kodomo no Jidaikan museum opened in Niigata, there was another 2/3 scale (or thereabouts) Godzilla sold there. It was greenish and slightly smaller than the 1998 figure: https://ameblo.jp/sofubiou/entry-10927834797.html
Thanks Roger. I have seen this one, but didn't ever see the side by side shot with the smaller '98 version, and always thought it was much closer to that version. So cool to see the direct comparison.
From Super7 #1: I also found an auction that shows this sticker on the header card. However, I just bought a loose specimen with a header card as well as a bagged one, and neither of those header cards have a sticker on them. I asked Eiji about them and he had no idea that sticker was applied, it must have been something Yuji's staff did. Does anyone else have one of these with the sticker?
Hi @Roger, I do have that slightly smaller green version of the 7" Gojira, but I felt it was so close in scale to the 1998 reissue that I did not include it in my photo. I tried it at first, but it kind of ruined the nice proportions of the final shot. Anyway, here you go:
I guess "green" works for me with the smaller ones, they're sort of greenish-blue to me. I did find a special prize inside one of the blue ones.
Cool Roger, that is a great comparison shot of the lineup. I don't think I ever paid attention to the numbering sticker on the backer card to be honest, but interesting quirk to learn about. Strange to think they would number each of them individually in a 'normal' production run like that though. Must be something someone on staff decided I guess, as you suggested. Hahaha, those are great little 'suprises.' I am guessing you heard these bits rattling around inside? "Super rare edition!"
