^^^Yeah, not quite sure where I left off with DD. It started out fun (wasn't it the first NF Marvel show?), but grew tiresome. I really liked Punisher s1, but I had to stop watching s2 after a couple of episodes because it was filmed in pitch dark. That's a major gripe I have with A LOT of TV/movies these days - unless you've got a light-tight home theater, you can't see what's going on in any dark scenes. A black screen with intermittent muzzle flashes isn't fun to watch. Bring back the omnipresent full moon blue light night scenes, please.

Dude fucking seriously! Every once in awhile a random horror movie is too dark for me so I change my TV setting to DYNAMIC instead of STANDARD and it helps a bit but with some netflix shows it makes no difference at all. It's damn near pitch black even in a room with no lights on. I accept the fact my TV is getting old but that cannot be the only problem because daytime stuff looks perfect.

Honestly, the only thing I remember was Bill Bixby's eyes turning weird then Lou Ferigno shows up. Also, the end of the show with the super sad music and hitchhiking. :D

I concur! . . . It's the one role were his botched facelift and ensuing inability to move his face really worked in his favour!

Glad it isn't just me. The first thing I do is whack the iPad brightness up to max when watching DD (and I did the same with much of The Punisher - even then it was like watching blobs of black ink battle in a dark room).

So, back to Superman. I didn't watch the last few DC movies so I may not fully get what is going on. He seems like a child. Without Lois he is willing, if not desiring, to wipe out all of humanity. The way he does it isn't in a sense of power, like these other beings that either want something or want to conquer humanity, but more like a child burning ants with a magnifying glass. He does it because he is bored, it seems. That was the image I got. The other weird thing is that Lois looks like a twin to his mom. Same body shape, face, and demeanor. The only thing different was the hair color to make sure we knew his mom was older. Is that alien kink? Extraterrestrial oedipus? Grossed me out a bit. I'd like to know what true superman fans think of this take on superman.

Sweet Tooth on Netflix is pretty fantastic. So odd seeing a setting based on what a pandemic did to the world. Hits a little too close to home but not in a bad way. The show is a weird combination of cute and really dark. I loved it. My favorite DC thing in years. I wish the season was longer but gladly it seems to be popular enough to get another season at least.

Good to hear. I was on the edge about whether I wanted to give this show a chance, but seems fun enough to check out.

A little amazed that people are having such nice things to say about Sweet Tooth. I mean, its not poorly executed, as standard manipulative teeny fair, but the cuddly apocalypse vibe and meaningful pop songs aren't jibing at all with my memory of the comic.

I haven't read the comic, which probably helps. I'm four episodes in and it's entertaining enough but its starting to remind me of Stranger Things for some reason. I do think the kid playing Sweet Tooth is a pretty good little actor.

I've realized in the last few months that the absolute horrible state of the world in general changed what I look for in entertainment. I always leaned towards darker movies and shows and books. Sad endings, violence, the hopelessness of humanity. After a full year of getting that in my actual day to day life I am learning to appreciate distractions that don't remind me of that stuff anymore. So a "cuddly apocalypse" is a nice change of pace from the shitty one happening outside.

That being said I am very much looking forward to Black Summer season two next week. Season one was my favorite modern zombie thing ever. That episode in the diner deserved fucking oscars. Wasn't sure a new season would ever get made.

    Anyone start watching Loki yet?

I found the first episode really interesting. That "paperweights" scene was a literal jaw dropping moment for me. It hilariously trolled so many marvel movies all at once. Loved it.

Yes! watched last night and am very intrigued and excited for the rest of the season. Time travel stuff is always a tricky topic, but i like how fun they've made it so far.

I liked how the only other time travel criminal we saw was caught trying to use time travel to play the stock market.

Also, someone that looks a lot like Peggy Carter is being led through a portal by an agent in the background of a scene. Maybe she got involved in some timestream-violating shenanigans with the second Steve Rogers.

The "paperweights" scene made me lol.

Someone pointed out that the end of the film strip says "Earth 616." That doesn't seem quite right to me but I that also popped up in a couple of other films, so I guess they're stuck with it now.

Wasn't it Alan Moore who decided all the main marvel stuff happens on Earth 616? I think it's been that way for decades. I could be way off though.

The main events in Marvel comics that started in the 1960s and continue to this day are on Earth-616, yes. But this is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's a different place and it should have a different number, like Earth-1610, the Marvel Ultimates universe, or Earth-51778, which is where Toei's Supaidaaman lives.

When do we rename this to ‘sick of marvel’?

This marvel universe should be earth-done-already-two-times-over.

also, is there a number distinction between the Sony universe and the marvel studios one when it comes to numbering them?

I believe that the Sony universe is most commonly referred to as number 2.
