i figured this might be the thread to bring this up in...
what type of vinyl do the bootleg kaiju figures use?
it got really f'n hot here over the summer, and i don't do much along the lines of air conditioning.
all of my collection fared pretty well, except for my gid bootleg kaiju figure.
that bastard bowed down to damn near horizontal status at the ankles, knocking over a shit-ton of toys in its path. whats up with that?

 

from what i've heard its the type of vinyl Medicom uses on its figures, definitely not sofubi.

i once bought a whole box of these at a dollar store:

i put them on socks to make sock puppets.
they were awesome "toys."

 

my friend's mom was a leaf rep & had an infinite supply of awesome all stars by the case load sitting under their carport. the gum was so gross.
I also need a bootleg still.

i used to have one, and it almost seemed more plasticy than like vinyl... Def wish i still had it

 

he seriously cries about it all the time.. constant weeping coming from his room...

 

Its made with chinese vinyl rather than japanese, they knew the quality wouldn't be as high but they wanted a less finnished looking toy as sort of an honour to bootleged toys that are more interesting than the licenced ones. Thats also the reason for the name bootleg, because it was produced in china.

Whoa, who did that print? I've never noticed that in the store!! Really hilariously wicked!

 

I'm assuming it this Sara Martin chick. It was on a shirt they released a year or so ago. Works well for both, would be even nicer screened onto some wood.

 

Oh yeah. I'm shocked I've never seen it in the store, and why I haven't bought it yet?! Such a great print!!!

 

That was done by sara martin... They had a showing of her work at the store that is hanging on the wall in the store...
