I was super excited to see Sonen fight Sila again until that crappy display he put on today. Maybe Bisping is really that good? Chael's interviews are pretty pathetic though. He should have at least given credit to Bisping.
All 3 aired fights were boring as shit... Sonnen proved again why I hate him so much. And Evans was a boring fight. Davis went all 5 rounds which we could say says a lot... But neither of the 2 were severely "hurt". They were just tired. Silva will dominate Sonnen, Bones will dominate Evans... I wanna see Henderson vs Bones!
I like Koscheck, but I wish he would have done more. Still think he did enough for the win. Big Country is getting tagged, but he is one tough motherfucker
Yeah, it looked pretty even. I'll give first round to Diaz thwo and three are draw , 4th to Condit and 5th to Diaz for the takedown and sub attempt.
Close fight for sure, I saw it definitely going either way. I saw rounds 1 & 2 as a toss up 3 & 4 for Condit and 5 for Diaz. His retiring doesn't surprise me, he's always been different.
Tim Boetsh just went ALL BARBARIAN on Yushin Okami's ass! Spectacular uppercuts looping around Okami's arm to get the KO! In the words of Joe Rogan, "Wow!!!" LMAO at Darth Bader's entrance music.
I'm going to have to watch a recorded version, but from being at the event it sure looked like Edgar won to me, but then I thought Diaz won his title shot as well
I wish I could agree with you Mark, but on tv he looked like he was fighting a giant. The up kick destroyed his face and I'm sure that swayed the judges. How was the live experience?
Hey Mark, is it just me or did Japanese fans get more rowdy? I remember how quiet it was at a Pride show I went to in 2005 and that was dead silent. I actually heard booing at times! One of the things that made me smile was seeing a full house during the prelims.
It was really great. I did leave a little deflated after Frankie lost and the poor showing of Rampage, but still great none the less. It was pretty far from me and a long ass train ride though, but still great True, true, true.....The crowd went NUTS when Rampage was introduced. They made more noise and gave him a standing ovation. He was received better than any of the Japanese fighters. Gomi had a lot of the crowd screaming as well. It is funny though because they would boo a little when the Japanese fighter would lose then cheer when the victor was announced? Good sportsmanship I guess!! I'm always amazed at how empty arenas are during prelims especially in boxing, but it was pretty crazy seeing all the lines prior to the doors opening. They sell merchandise outside and the line was forever long Great day, but disappointing endings (in my opinion). Besides I thought you weren't allowed to do up-kicks to the face? Did that change or was that with another organization? Either way Frankie got rocked, but he seemed to be right back in it. I loved how he could throw Henderson around and grab all his leg kicks. I set my television to record the fights but they went beyond the time. I only have a round and a half of the main event recorded. They are replaying it today so I'll get to see it again. And I do agree that Henderson is HUGE compared to Frankie, but so was Maynard.
Up-kicks are allowed, but only if you're still standing. Pride allowed you to do them to downed opponents as well. Personally, I was most impressed with Hioki's performance. Palaszewski was talking a whole lot about how overrated Hioki is. Glad to see Hioki getting back to form, and taking it to him.
Henderson fight looked pretty one-sided on TV IMO. While Edgar did connect, there wasn't any damage and it didn't phase Henderson. Edgar on the other hand looked like Rocky I.
Felt the same way when I watched it on TV. I had no idea why Edgar was celebrating at the end of the fight since he pretty much wasn't gonna win (IMO). Did Henderson win by split decision or unanimous? i can't remember..
