Mind you I was banned from ever touching gin again after one fateful night years ago drinking every patrons French 75's (Gin & Champagne) at a bar my bartender friend worked in on a dare. So dreadfully ill my g/f practically had to carry me home and I proceeded to vomit till I turned blue she said. After being sick from a particular spirit, one does not usually want to partake in it again. Till this summer. When visiting relatives in NJ I was introduced to Hendricks Gin (infused with cucumber). Man is this stuff heavenly. Just bought a bottle with the proceeds of a block yard sale (on a scorching hot day here in Buffalo). Going to sit outside in the evening with that ol' Snoop tune Gin & Juice in my head... Do you care? Probably not, but I haven't had a decent drink in weeks...
Hendricks is an awesome gin, especially nice on a hot summers day. Not that we know much about summer over here.
Not to take anything away from Dan Aykroyd (K-town represent!), but gimicky packaging like this usually equates in my mind to less than stellar product, so I usually steer away. Can't say either way for the Crystal Head vodka, as I haven't imbibed myself, but the Hendricks bottle is actually appealing in its traditional simplicity. An all-around nice gin. Good choice No everyone's thing I know, but for cucumbered drinks I still won't turn down a decently made Pimms on a hot day.
Hendriks bottle is sort of like an oldschool moonshine bottle from the 20's. Mmmm Ultra I love Pimms cup as well. Pimms cup and ginger ale!
I'll just sit here and finish my case of Natty Light... Though this thread has made me want to go to the liquor store and now I will. Thanks, guys.
I'm a fan of Van Gogh Gin, but I'm a whiskey man myself. Since this is a predominately Japanese toy forum, I'll be the first to encourage Suntory:The Yamakazi 18 year old malt whiskey, it's smokey, sweet, and spicy all rolled into each sip. If you ever get a chance give it a try, at 30 dollars a bottle, it's expensive, but affordable. Check it out.
Just some cheap-ass vodka to use with the rest of my Bloody Mary mix. <img src=\"{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif\" alt=\"\" title=\"Cool\" />
Hendricks rules hard. I like it with mint, maybe something like a gin julep... very refreshing and wonderful. also like the traditional julep with some bulliet bourbon. It's time to shake up a drink!
Normally not a fan, but Hendricks has really won me over. Very summery drink. Usually I'm all about Mojitos and Caipirinhas in the summer but I get bored with the same old, and the latter are a lot of work. I've decided quality is the best move since I rarely buy liquor anyhow. Hey if it does the trick why not right? Besides I'm all about being efficient with what I have to work with anyhow. I just happen to see a cucumber in the fridge and said to myself...expensive gin time! This sounds really yummy, I must try this. Kim is going to Denver for 3 days starting Monday so I'll be home alone. Might have to develop the noon rule, meaning I have to start drinking as soon as it hits noon. No AC and I think it's going to be hot this week (I live in an upstairs apt).
Hendricks is the only gin I'll drink. Get a rocks glass, crush a fresh lime quarter in the bottom, add ice. 2 ounces of Hendricks (plus a splash). Add a quality tonic to your taste. Easily the best G & T you'll ever have.
Shouldn't there be a one in front of that three or is the restaurant by my house out of control with their price?
Hendricks Gin Flor de Caña Rum i also like Chartreuse and i don't know my Tequila but 4 Copas Blanco was good
Bizarre thread. I usually drink Sapphire but last night an ex coworker ordered Hendricks and it was pretty good. I've never heard of it with the exception of this thread. Anyway... very light and didn't leave that 'pine tree' taste.
I think this thread needs to be renamed to "High Spirits" Lately I've been drinking Tequila, 1800 silver. Sipping it straight, with maybe a splash of lime and a Jalapeno-stuffed olive (Texas twist for ya!). On the rocks to keep the heat down. Tonic usually adds a good kick too.... I need to diversify though! Might check out some Gins and Brandys.
