this is the first of my three pieces for the It Came From Skullbrain (ICFSB) show at Super 7. i couldn't decide which pictures i liked best, so i am posting the 7 that i liked the most. Here is the basic show info for anyone living under a rock: When: April 18th (Sat) 2009. Where: Super7 retail outlet 1628 Post Street, San Francisco, CA 94115 now, onto the work. this piece is spray paint and house paint on vinyl. this is what it looked like when i started: and this is what it looked like when i finished:
thanks! it's very textured in person. it is basically layer upon layer upon layer of light coats of spray paint (where you make the nozzle spit the paint out in droplets)
thanks! i debated with myself a bit... one side said put them all in one thread, but then i realized the load time was a bit excessive. other side said make a separate one for each, but then i thought someone might say "hey jerk, stop cloggin it up in here" i probably made the wrong decision, but what else is new
This is my favorite of the three pieces you've submitted. The lime-ish green is a nice contrast to the blue-marbled body and the overall paintjob makes the figure seem weightier---like it'd have some heft to it when you pick it up. Nice work!
i always make the wrong decision. yes, the original base was GID. that's the only double doku i had in my collection. i stripped it and then gave it a couple of good coats of plastic primer before i went to work on it.
awesome scotty, thanks so much! hearing from some people, it seems like the doku is their favorite. it's a nice clean simple figure and was a lot of fun to work on.
