Just finished The Little Prince and it was very good. A lot of great actors in it, most of whom I didn't even realize were in it til I read the credits. Bravo netflix.
Anyone watch Bloodline ? Just finished the second season, loved it. Looking forward to the third (and supposedly final) season. "
I enjoyed the new Bill Burr stand-up show that came out earlier this week. Not his best but funny nonetheless.
I just watched Bill Burr's last night. Definitely not his best, I'll agree, but still funny. Felt like he spent too much time on each joke. More like stretched out, semi - funny stories, rather than his usual, overly cynical punchlines delivered through angry rants. I'd still recommend it, though.
Liked Bloodline very much also. One of the shows I'll keep up with even though I no longer have Netflix.
I watched season 2 of Bloodlines without having seen season 1. Excellent show. Now I'm catching up on season 1. Also blew through Santa Clarita Diet this week. I really enjoyed this show and how it goes from comedic to horrific and back again with such ease.
The OA is insane. That's pretty much all I can say about it. It's been 20 minutes since my girlfriend and I finished it and I'm still sitting here contemplating my own personal reality. Fuck.
Cyborg 009 Call of Justice was amazing. I would have preferred hand draw, but the story is so well done that the 3D doesn't bother me. My understanding is that these are the same original cyborgs from the original show but in our time, it shows they have been involved in the worlds major conflicts when they were needed. Its a great set up with a mature storyline; permanent death at points.
Check this out when you get a chance. Directorial debut of Macon Blair, who was in Blue Ruin and Green Room (both good pictures, by the way).
Not Netflix, but Amazon has a new series called Patriot that I really enjoyed. It's a spy genre black comedy, and actually quite melancholy. I'm a big, big fan of espionage, but I think what was strongest about this series was the depth of characterization, and the stylistic elements. There is this frequent use of parallel relationships and parallel encounters between characters that I found delightful. Probably my favorite show since Utopia. They posted the pilot in 2015. I don't know why it took so long to come out. Hope it gets a second season.
Hulu released 3 seasons of Black Sails. Started watching it years ago when it first aired but could only watch via streaming services. Really happy it's online now. Great show if you love pirates and boobs.
A friend of mine showed me this movie on Netflix called Gantz 0. It was a manga series they turned into one whole movie. People who died are brought back to life to fight in a survival game where they are rewarded points for killing demons/monsters. All the creatures are from Japanese folklore and stories. Really well done, all in CGI. I recommend it for sure.
Surprised I'm not seeing more posts around social media about the Abstract: Art of Design series that just came out.. well worth checking out! https://www.netflix.com/au/title/80057883
I gave Gantz:O a watch this weekend. It was pretty cool though the dialogue kinda sucked, granted I did watch it English dubbed. The monster made entirely out of boobies was pretty awesome.
The English voice over work for Gantz isn't very desirable. I'm not a big fan of English dubbed shows. I enjoy subtitles because you get the original voice actors and all the emotion they put into it.
