Yes I believe it's like a once or twice a year thing. Btw, Max Toy club membership is non-expiring which is very cool.
I like the Eyezon and the Xam from that set. The Draz is pretty neat, too. I like lighter paint applications on clear vinyl...so the Maxx and the Tripus look a little too opaque to me...
Dream Rocket's style keeps changing. I think the wing covers and tail are my favorite parts of the paint scheme.
Yeah, what the fuck? Each wave sells out in what seems like minutes...whether there's an e-mail announcement or not. It's actually been pretty frustrating! Like, are people really just sitting there, refreshing the shop page every 20 minutes??? Nah, but I *finally* scored a set a little while back: the unpainted GID ones. Just gotta figure out how I'm gonna get 'em painted! Anyway, speaking of the mini's, have you guys seen the Monster Kolor "Neo Hawaii" set?? For $40, looks like you get Hawaii-style paint and an unpainted caucasian mini Eyezon or Tripus! Pretty killer deal! And it also looks like they're running a painting contest on the Monster Kolor board, too: http://monsterkolor.ning.com/forum/topics/paint-contest Pretty neat idea!
I'm kind of confused by rotofugi's pricing of the max toy mini figures. I payed 100 for 5 figures (+ a duplicate max) directly fromt he max toy club, but rotofugi is selling the same items for 15 a pop. Technically i could have saved 25 dollars by buying the set via rotofugi. It's a great price but sort of confusing. Feels like it should have been the other way around or something.
Yeah... kinda weird. I bought the set from the Club as well, and they're cool, but $15 a pop is way cooler
Well, that's part of the problem right there: it's not a duplicate Maxx. There are two Maxx sculpts. One with an "open" (unmasked) mouth area, and one with a 2nd ver Ultraman-style mouthplate. So, a complete mini set is 6, not 5.
I wish the mouthplate on the Ultra-style Maxx mini had been painted silver instead of the same flesh color as the mouth version.
Well I'll be damned...you're right. Yeah, that's silly. Oh well...it's a fucking toy. Get a detail brush and some silver paint and correct that shit!
I just checked my invoices and unless the distributor made a mistake, our pricing at $15 each is correct. I'll check in with Mark and see what the deal is....
A-Ha! Kirby's kinda right with the first part: the distributor did make a mistake! Got the low-down from Mark just now. Basically, any and all painted minis are supposed to be $25.00 retail. StrangeCo mistakenly priced them as UNPAINTED minis, which are $15.00 retail, and sold them accordingly. And unfortunately, Mark did not know until a few days ago. So in the end, the true retail price should be $25.00 each, and NOT $15.00 each. Shucks...but I can totally dig it. If you already have some of these in hand, you know $15 would be highway robbery!
