Nope I got an email this morning that they chose the next two from the lottery. Oh well someone will be very happy and they got back to me in no time flat, awesome! I will wait for next month for sure.
"Biff wrote: Why don't you contact Nari & see if he will sell you one of the ones flaked out on by said douche bag." Thank you. I'm sorry really. Only one piece a person can be bought this time. You are not good at an additional order. The rejected candidate can buy TONNERAN of the cancellation. thank you. nari
That sounds like a response to somebody who already won the lottery but got greedy and tried for a second colorway. Nari is attempting to make sure that as many people as possible are able to enjoy his releases, which is great of him. Some of us were lucky in the sense that with some of the previous releases, we were able to request multiple versions in order to satisfy our ocd urges, but now his popularity seems to be growing past that luxury for his collecters.
Viewing the update pics on Nari's blog, there seems to have been only a few yellow and black spray ordered. I wonder if we could know how many of each were finally painted.
I sent him an email. I'll post back if he replies. EDIT: He couldn't give exact numbers, but here's what he said: "Most A lot of blue . A lot of red . The same black as red. Very little yellow. "
<tirade> WHY DO PEOPLE ALWAYS HAVE TO GO BACK TO ASKING ABOUT RUN NUMBERS??? TOY MAKERS DON'T WANT TO RELEASE NUMBERS BECAUSE IT SWAYS COLLECTING HABITS. IF THERE IS 1 or 100 BUY IT CAUSE YOU LIKE IT. IF THEY WANT YOU TO KNOW IT WILL BE MARKED ON THE PACKAGE x / xxx. OTHERWISE DON'T ASK, IT'S INSULTING. </tirade> it's very obvious in the photo that there are a lot of these, and more to come, so the likely hood you will get one will be good.
We know the run number was 90, I was just curious what color people tended to like. Nari's answer satisfied me. Does that make me an insulter? I'm also very confident that I'll like the blue one I was lucky enough to purchase.
Run numbers are a source of great contention because they are so often abused, but I was also just curious on the color breakdown. Hopefully we don't see any asshats billing their yellows on YJA or ebay as R@R3, but unfortunately that's a big part of the environment these toys are made in, which is a shame. Speaking to the colors, the breakdown actually surprises me a bit. I was expecting much more yellow than black. Neat.
I don't feel like I insulted anyone asking for numbers. I just like to know what I own and I don't have a problem with that. Nari's answer is really interesting as I wanted to know what people were attracted to. I don't think that my tastes are those of most of the board and I am curious. Now of course I am disappointed because I will not be able to get $$$$$ by reselling my black version as much as I would have a yellow one... AND I CAN WRITE IN BIG LETTERS TOO.
i guess complaining about asking for run numbers is like also asking people to stop +1, bumps, PM'd, and all the other ridicously stuff that occurs here now though everyone asks them to not do it.
<sigh> Fine, I won't ask this question again. But I don't think Nari was insulted. He could have just said go away. I get that this question represents bad behavior by people trying to work an angle on reselling toys. That was not my intent. I was just curious.
I'd love to see some more pics of this guy up against some other sculpts for size comparison. S7, Gargamel, etc...
Can't wait to pick mine up tomorrow at the post office...should have already had it, but my postman sucks!
Got mine and damn, it's awesome. Another highly detailed sculpt and paint job! After seeing this then I'm wanting a glow version
Yeah, it's closer to that color in hand as well... I think it's because it wasn't a very opaque paint and a little of the really orangey flesh vinyl shows through. I think I like it more with it being closer to orange.
Same here. The thing that attracted me most to the red spray version was the slate purplish-gray on the feet. I think the darker color contrasts really well with the brighter colors. Makes 'em sing. Plus, it gives the lower half a much more weighty feel. I'm such a sucker for Nari's stuff. He could have spit the color on the Tonneran and I'd find a way to call it brilliant.
