His site has gone beyond confusing me I've jsut hit it for the first time in a LONG time and it used to be an easy "here's what's coming, here's how to order" but now there"s a "shop" and a "BBS" and you order from them too? I'm so lost, my head has too much info swimming in it and anything new like this is crushing it all Anyway, I like the Cyborg Mr. X and Hito is always cool too. I feel like those 2 really take the "cool and weird" cake. I'm still holding out for more minis, really need some more!
Shocked to see it same size as a smog, that pre release photo really made it seem huge. Compared to a hito though, it is a beast! Thanks for the comparison!
WOW, that Mr. X does look amazing! I like the black accents and the contrasting yellow cracked open head. I didn't really get what was happening with the one-offs on lottery. It said they were coming, but I never actually saw any news. Anyone enter for these guys?
If you look in detail, you will notice that Nari-san literally painted these guys with a brush, especially around the head and face. Its a pretty large surface area for brush work. Simply amazing.
Isn't it pretty standard to paint some of the details with a brush? Looks like the eyes, teeth, and "crack" were brushed - I don't see what's so amazing about that. Not to detract from Nari, I just don't get why this is a big deal.
Its actually the black part of the head down to the yellow part and the orange. He managed to achieve the gradation and really smooth brush stroke. Plus with that color mix, I'm not sure if its easy to fix there's any mistake. I'm not exactly a painter but it sure impressed the hell out of me.
Really? Forgive me for being dubious, but that would be odd to brush the black on...and the way it fades looks like a spray. Obviously you have it in hand and can better examine the details, so I guess I'll have to take your word on it...but with skepticism.
Geez! Ok look at the 1st pic, top right. the black area is quite thick and cakey. Typically if its sprayed on its really thin and smooth. I don't know, maybe his air brush started to sputter and to not risk it, decided to use a brush. I think you'll just need to get one
i see lots of speckled gradations and over-spray around the raised features, so it might be the vinyl texture or the clear coat that might be giving the impression of brushwork, no? could also be some spot touch-ups done with a brush.
Just checking mine out, I was impressed at how smooth the black was AIRBRUSHED! Smooth fade, almost zero spattering. Of course the small teeth details and eyes are brush detailed. If you have ever painted with V color you would know it can't be brushed smooth over large areas. Just my 2 cents.
Ok, now the painters are talking, so I better zip it. But mine's a one-off brush painted version And it's past midnight here, better get to bed. I'm not too sharp past midnight.
I was originally against this monster, but after seeing it painted I'm more interested in it. If Nari ever makes some better colorways that don't look like every other colorway he's ever done I might pick one up! (And actually, the Mr. X is probably the farthest he's strayed from his "typical" colorways in quite a while - I like it!) That's my one issue with Elegab - some terrific sculpts, but the colors are generally too similar. When I see a collection of multiple colorways of the same Elegab figure they just kinda all blend together rather than stand out as individuals.
I think it's Bulletin Board System, I think you sign up and you can post comments. I am pretty confused by the whole thing myself but If you click to see the BBS it will take you to it. Worth a try in any case, that Hito is looking sweet.
I received my "Premium BBS" King Smog "Crazy" yesterday A truely amazing piece ! I could not dream for a better color combo. Based on GID vinyl, red & white chimneys (essential to me) puke out dark smoke on a green & blue sky, to form a red, green & golden cloud of fumes. The silver teeth & claws add for perfect details. STUNNING. It's signed and dated under the foot too I know need to find a descent place on my shelf (and some time to take good pics) !
wait, so we're not talking about the de-evolution of the internet? sigh, those were good times, Trade Wars on the BBS....
