they displayed (at least online) painted mario versions last year too--but those weren't intended for release.
^ Doubtful, as they showed off painted versions last year as well. I think it was an example of how you could paint it if you wanted to. The Nintendo License is 1 of those 1 day only WF deals(not sure much beyond that how they work). I'd love to see a ton of painted versions though too.
i was about to ask the same question. thought about buying it... but figured i should pass & i shouldn't buy stuff just because i'd never seen it before although sort of wish i did, as i do like the head
