Real Head kicks ass. I love the bitching about the US site on the last page, and then the raving on this page!!
The bitching was moot anyways . . . base vinyl colour . . . fuck me! Chaos fans have had it good since way before Christmas . . . starting to feel a little sorry for the Evil/Head fans out there!
I never really "got" the Stereogon figure, so I'm really not getting the mash up--but it's good to see something different everywhere you turn. Hone Borg? did Mori giveup on that guy? it's like the best 6" scupt since Chaos (IMHO). can we at least see a GID version? then I'll shut up about Hone Borg again--I miss that guy.
True Andy, would love to see more Evils and Heads. Sure black vinyl is great, I have plenty. The first US Pheyaos Man is over a base black vinyl and is an excellent AMAZING colorway! When you have this type of variant who cares. I just am seeing too many releases with allot of white/black, red and darker motifs, over and over and over again. I have a great ever expanding collection of RxH. Sharing an opinion, whats wrong with that?
I picked up one of the Adult figs from the US site because I thought he was badass...but I'm on board with Andy that I need more Evil in my life.
I don't want Evil . . . just a brief hiatus on Chaos! But when Mori's dropping Kikaider tribute MC's it's rude not to . . . Photo via Andy@KK
What do people think of the RxH Nibbler collab. I happen to really like this figure. Love the recent RxH collabs and the size is really great....between a mini and standard.
I love the recent RxH collabs as well but this looks a bit awkward to me, and the vinyl stick-on eyes seem a little cheap - but then what do i know, i'm a newb
Think I'll pass on this one. What's with the neck area? Looks like someone shoved a log through his neck and the eyes are just silly.
Not my bag but I have to admire Mori for trying new stuff and being willing to collaborate with unknown's on the outer fringe of neo kaiju.
I wasn't sure about the large neck area either but I think there are sort of like 2 faces — 1 in the chest and the actual head. Like here is one of the old Nibbler figures and you can definitely see this guys head in the new sculpts chest. And I just found this pic which is pretty cool — with some of the Glyos pieces subbed in for the arms. Not sure where the upper pieces are attached but has cool potential for people who are also into Glyos.
I like The Tarantulas glyos figures, but this collab just doesn't work for me at all. If the first release was a paint rub, then I might have considered picking it up.
These are very interesting. Everyone has their own taste, new/old - its in the 'eye' of the beholder, and by the way....'vinyl stick-on eyes'....shish!
I was told that there are not arm sockets in the upper part of the figure but there are markings sculpted into the figure that show where you can cut them out yourself. And if you can see in the modded pic I think the eye in the chest has been cut out too. So it seems like this figure is the first that I know of that has been designed to be somewhat customizable and interchangeable with the Glyos sysem and current RxH minis. The new Axis joints were apparently designed to fit perfectly in the existing RxH mini sockets. So I do agree that the stickers for the eyes are whack, but for me, the potential of the figure far outweighs said whackness. For a while now I've been trying to merge the Glyos system with a standard Chaos figure and this figure seems to have been designed to solve all the compatibility issues I had while doing so.
"said whackness." Love that phrase. Awww, I actually like the shiny sticker eyes. Reminds me of those little foil decals that came with every robot toy back in the day...
Can't you peel off the stickers and the eye socket is the same shape. So they could just paint the area in future runs. I like the figure. I'm not really into cutting up a vinyl figure to add pieces, but I'm not a big customizer either.
I'm going to bust your balls for a second because you bring up an interesting thought... even if a vinyl toy is designed to be customizable and reconfigurable in the same vein as a Glyos toy, does doing so still count as 'ruining' it? Sort of like with 'build kits' that some companies have released... sure one or two uncut sets look cool, but if I got one of those 'make your own figure' sets, you can be sure I would make my own figure! I got to handle this guy last week, and while I have never really paid attention to or liked the Nibbler stuff that much, this guy is pretty nicely made, and I'm curious to see what is next for him, as well as what people will come up with once they get them in hand. I thought the eye stickers were a neat twist on sprucing up the initial unpainted run. The actual sculpt still isn't my favorite, but they don't all have to be.
Stickers were always a part of toys. Die-cast toys made use of stickers a lot, jumbo machinders also had tons of stickers, and some Popy toys like the Go Rangers set.
