I think those are the very reasons Alice made his post. There was a time when the majority of paint applications/ sculpts were nothing short of spectacular. It's good that there are people who love the new work but for some the paint apps are looking very samish. There are a lot of KR looking/ inspired colorways (Dark vinyl rub/ metallic greens/ reds / purples), but we've seen them already way back when the releases were still at Junkspot. At the same time we are also seeing a lot of releases that are copying OG colorways, but expanding them through other sculpts. That rarity of 'sets' was one thing that made a RXH collection so vibrant. Blanks are okay, but that experimentation with blanks produced this 3 years ago: Still, there are presumably still a lot of people are enjoying enjoying the brand, so it's a cse of horses for courses. Still see where Alice is coming from though.
Bah, that picture hurts... Aside from the Armored Chaos in the regular colors, have we even seen any of these again?
Do you mean painted or the actual proto's? I've seen a number of those unpainted proto's in a collection or 2.
No offense intended, and I don't agree with him here (about Mori), but honestly I'd far prefer to read his posts than yours.
"Your commets are alright and Imma let you finish, but Alice had the best comment of all time!" too late, huh?
I dunno, stripping a production piece is kinda lame... it certainly wouldn't be my first choice. Thrilled for ya.
yeah, no way. I could never bring myself to do it--but dammit, I need some good unpainteds to fill out my "no paint" shelf and they don't come easy--if at all. I'd sooner wait on some good toy karma to come around than ruin a production piece though.
On the argument of "That's been done already" for the Burnt Chaos: SO? How many Blue 55 colored figures/sculpts are out there? Or Hawaiian Bullmark? Or Walder? "Oh dude, those are CLASSIC, that's why they're cool to re-do 1,000,000 times!" Really? I mean, I love them too, but what's the REAL difference? I think putting old paints on new sculpts is part of what makes this fun. On the "blanks, blegh, been done!" argument: I kiiiiiiiiiiinda agree, but if it's a new thing for the company I have no issues with it. Again, Gargamel certainly doesn't seem to get crap for their endless blanks. Nor do a lot of companies. I'm only REALLY down if it's unpainted pearl (like these) or glitter or something kinda fresh for that company to be using. It's standard, it seems, with these toys to have blank releases particularly when a new sculpt or vinyl type emerges. Get's ya pumped for the eventual painted version. What offends me more is that splatter half pink half black Chaos hitting, BUT I just don't buy it. RxH is putting out so much in the sense of divirsity it's amazing. If you like rubs (which I'm tired of, but still like the original rub set) than you're set. Free sprays are back, SOME in small numbers, you're set! Blanks, they got you. Minis? Done. Big ass crap? It's there. Masked junk? Available. I like how Mori plays around with everything, even if it doesn't appeal to EVERYONE. I can say I only am into like 1/4 of what he's putting out, but I REALLY am into it. It's great stuff. On Alice, I just assumed he was being the surley Brit in Japan we always see. Even if not, I don't care, why would I? I'm not gonna be some White Knight for Mori, I think Mori's work stands for itself. Cheerleading over, I'm gonna go hate on something to balance everything out. (this post is in no way aimed at anyone in particular, because I don't care enough to be annoyed by anyone's opinion here.)
^ You reminded me of the Gargamel mini Hawaii set I had. HAD!!! I could really kick the crap out of myself for selling those little gems. Despite, the likes, dislikes of what RxH has put out or not put out, he can't possibly appease everyone, and that is beating a dead horse.
I think this is pretty much on the mark... Mori's reached a point where ha can afford to appeal to a whole variety of styles at the same time, which is a nice change or pace from the smaller outfits that can only drop one or two figures at a time. Don't you have something better to do than call people names on the internet? Talk toy.
I was referring to your posts actually. It does, however, seem incredibly ignorant of you to tell Alice he should stop posting on SB. He has substantially more knowledge about Japanese vinyl toys than you do imo.
I really didn't mean in 1 year vs. overall. There seems to be a lot, but maybe not (in comparison.) The blues, the built up LB blanks, clear, flesh, again just overall. Also, it's not an insult, I think it's cool that anyone puts out blanks even if I'm not into them too much. "Endless" was the wrong word, but there's no shortage of them either. It was also a partial comparison of how (a lot of times) there seems to be a "fight" or complaining about something RxH will do when other companies (I use Garg because they're bigger and easier for me to cite, usually) do the same thing generally. No fire-starting intended, just comparing views of things.
Like Japanese vinyl toy companies and the types of releases they have? Or how the fans/collectors of those products/companies react to some vs. others? For instance (like things) Gargamel releases a lucky bag at the end/begining of the year of figures, many unpainted. People are excited. RxH has a New Years special release of mostly unpainted figures. People complain? Serisously, if anything I'm saying is either WAY off or somehow offending someone, sorry. I thought I was just talking about toys not serious business. No hidden attitude there either.
I don't collect this line, but if I did, I would want these. Kaiju Blue Exclusives went on sale yesterday. In-gallery purchase only via lottery. one sculp per person.
That's some intense fade work, and looks really slick. I'm not sure why there are two 'fly guy' head sculpts... they seem kind of redundant.
