The couple of times i've been to NYCC it's been pretty lame - thankfully there were some great parties in the evenings to make it worthwhile going. Or perhaps it was because of those parties (and the weak ass toys on show) that the days were so very painful So if there's parties i'll be tempted to go again seeing as plane tickets should be cheap (er) that time of year.
I didn't consider it that way, but your right. Hopefully it won't condense either one by joining them too.
Can anyone make some hotel recommendations, area/plan? Gessh i thought SDCC was crazy, i see like $250 + tax min., timesquare, $400+ help.
I'm hoping prices come down too. They are crazy right now.... Maybe hotels are cheaper in New Jersey.
Look for hotels in Brooklyn. You'll have to commute on the subway about 30 minutes there and back each day, but hotels are usually about $150 a night or so over there and the hotels are all regular nice hotels. Also, from what I heard, Anime Festival NY will be condensed a bit since there's so much Comic Con stuff, which kind of sucks. It's like they're trying to phase out Anime Festival NY at the point where it finally became a legitimate con of its own.
We might stay at a place in Flushing that we've been to before. It's a pain commuting in, but seriously..it's so pricey right now. I'm thinking it's because the summer promos are going on now and the fall stuff hasn't hit yet.
stay in jersey, hotels are cheap and your either a 15 min bus or train ride, prob easier then brooklyn or anywhere in the city. trust me.
Still on the fence if I should drive in daily. Would like to know what night the Mishka boys are gonna have an event, that night I may stay in the city. I wonder if enough of us want a hotel maybe we could contact one and see if we could set up some sort of group deal ?
For hotels in NYC (or any other US city), I'd recommend using Priceline (the "name your price" feature) and performing a search in Brooklyn or Queens. It's possible to get a 3.0-3.5 star hotel for $100-$125 or so. Only drawback is you have to take the hotel they give you, but once you're familiar with the site you can pretty much figure out it will be one of 3 or 4 possibilities. If you stick with the 3.0-3.5 range, it's usually fine. Go below that and all bets are off. Oh, and if you're going to be in the city a week (or even 4-5 days), get a week-long Metrocard. Only costs $27 (if I remember correctly) and is good for subway and buses.
yeah October 1st for the Sox/douchebags game i might just make a vacation out of it and hang with friends and fam during the week... and you def fall into one or both of those categories!
