Official SDCC 2009 Preview Thread (Spoilers)

Half the time anymore I feel like people are posting toys/arts/crafts for children's bedrooms.

 

I just say no to resin but I'd love to see a vinyl version of the Bwana figure.

 

Not Kozik's Beaver (fnar fnar!) . . . just Koziks colourway on an existing sculpt!

 

Since I found out the Ron English pieces are only minis I kinda like 'em! . . . Lorne, if yer out there!

I have always disliked the beaver - found it to be too much of Jon Kricfalusi rip-off...
I also agree the Dom [expletive deleted] is pretty cool - have always had a soft spot for [expletive deleted].
The smoking corps dude kills - always have thought this series was underated.
... anything else??

 

I love resin, just not the ones I've seen lately that look like paint by numbers blanks for kids etc.

 

I just don't understand how a guy can get paid for choosing 3 pantone swatches (black, grey and white at that!), slap an anarchy symbol and unoriginal text on an existing figure. I want to take whatever marketing classes he took!

 

Cut. Paste. Repeat.

 

The "hate" I believe is from the fact that its not so much a repaint as laziness...?

 

frank can sit and approve colorways all day. he's good at that, amongst other things.
also, very nice guy.

 

you forgot to make your text purple

 

i've only known him as a neighbor with a semi-open studio in SF. in that capacity, frank is very cool and even gave me a ride home once because it was cold. I've always enjoyed his poster art and even the occassional toy he makes.

I'm sure to some he's "too big for his britches" and his commercialism is a turnoff to his art.

 

Would love to see some SDDC Kaiju spoilers....love how they stay pretty hidden till the bitter end

 

I wonder if Kaiju Big Battel have a new Marmit release.
