RxH & Cronic fight figures =/= kaiju ...rather, they are kaijin. People just exploit the word kaiju and just use it for everything jp vinyl related, regardless of whether they know what it really means. If anyone here remembers his first "old skool kaiju" release, it wasn't kaiju at all. It seems like he heard the word "kaiju" as a hot buzz word in today's toys and just slapped it on to his figure. Just makes him look stupid.
I think RxH are fight figures, but more in the sense of cartoon fighting (Dragonball, TMNT). Cronic, I really don't know. I guess 'kaijin' would be accurate, but there are sculpts like the Dorome, Dorogami, etc. that are definitely non-humanoid. They've always reminded me more of youkai than kaiju/kaijin anyhow.
I always notice that every new person that joins..usually states something about.."this is my first kaiju" or "i'm new to kaiju..etc etc." It's become or is a word that's practically synonymous with "Japanese toys." We all know they are just dollies.
after enjoying eastern vinyl for a while all collectors realize the difference even in the smaller style variations. but alot of new guys come from western collecting [like i did] and with the drastic change in style and quality. things get lumped together at of ignorance. point is eventually everyone learns
Its one thing to come into this, with very little knowledge and using a term to lump what you don't understand, all together. Like with anything else, yes you eventually learn and that's fine. Its a completely different story to create your own figure and call it something that isn't so. *Sorry for the large photo, but the print to illustrate the point is rather smalll...
oh no, im not making excuses for that thing. besides if anything thats club kid tokusatsu! [thats sarcasm, i wouldve made it purple but i enjoy that color and dont want to ruin it]
