one of the most bizzare toys i have ever seen

Although Tomy's line of windups was mostly cute animals and little dome headed robots a few monsters snuck in as well. I imagine they were passed off as turtles in the western markets:

I'm pretty sure I had that white bodied kappa as a child, or something very close to it.

I saw these vintage wind-ups on here & was really interested in finding some. I just scored this guy last week & he arrived today. Thanks everyone for the pics & info. I wanna try to find more of these guys...

 

Ya I was stoked when I saw him! I've only seen the few that have been posted on here but when I saw this one I assumed he was from the same series.

And ya the box is amazing! I'm really shocked that it is in such good condition after such a long time. And he was only $10! An awesome price for something so old & so damn cool...

 

That wandering monster for $10 was a great deal. Still looking for that one.

 

I love the mad cannibal illustration. Its just plain wrong. I wonder who painted it and what else was sitting in the studio?
