Thanks! There are a few paint/packaging variants of this fine fellow. I like how how this one fits into the Kaiju Series. The legend grows! ^_^
Thanks @Alebrije! Wanted to share pics of another Barom pachi. It has the same body as the above figure. This is a pretty rare version with removable helmet and fantastic head sculpt. [
Awesome find, Andy! I love that you have one now with the different coloured mask (even if I am incredibly jealous ). Beautiful bootleg examples.
Wow Andy incredible find! Never saw this before. Now I have to have one! This bootleg reminds me of my favorite (non-removable mask) Barom One patchi: http://skullbrain.org/bb/index.php?threads/barom-one-bootlegs.51789/ Helmet is eerily similar. Wonder if this was made by the same bootleg company?
Cheers. There do seem to be two main Barom 1 bootleg heads: the one I posted and the one with the green mask in the post above it. Both types are out there in removable and non-removable mask versions. That two-type variety was pretty common with other characters too in the early 70s, and it wouldn't surprise me if a single factory made both types. Then again, with the amazing variety of bootleg packaging and headers out there, who knows. Could well be that Children Toy and New Kaiju Series figures were all put together by the same people who just grabbed whatever bags, headers, and little extras were on hand.
Thanks dude. I've only ever seen the ultra mini Barom in the Barom/Arashi/Lion Maru three packs. Was stoked to find him with the 5" Barom mini. I thought the background worked great, too. Maybe Warhol had a hand in the set.
Wow Andy, nice one! That is definitely a treat of a find. I have never seen the ultra mini packaged like this either. Both figures are incredible, and to have them out there as a set is just right. Great hunting, sir.
What I like the most is the art. @deafmetal Mark do you saw the double-stamped Marusan Goji that had the original headercard?
@Alebrije - Roger, yes, and losing that auction was painful. I have been hoping to find an original Marusan Great Monsters of the Century header with the Toho Godzilla stamp. I was surprised to see the price go that high, and I hope to find a header alone some day for less, or to dream even bigger, perhaps with a sealed gojira included.
Really nice two pack! Big backing card, two awesome colored poly figures in different colors - sweet!
Cool finds - Love the silver Kamen, he is from a line that includes Kamen rider, Birdman, Spectreman and a couple of others... anyhoos here are some more packaged Boots from my collection.. ..
Sweet! Love that full display card and the Ultraman set. For a kid in the 70s, that's a weekend full of fun in one package!
Nice one ... he is a cool spectreman ! One thing about that series is all the figures are hopless at standing! This guy is of note as awesome toy reproduced a version of this figure for their spectreman series.. Spoiler
@scobot what other characters were made in this series?I seen one of the same spectreman but had blue sprays on the head...
