Marusan reissue and Bullmark original
New vs Vintage, @deafmetal beautiful couple Mark, the Goji on the left is from the 60th Anniversary of Godzilla series?
@Alebrije - Roger, this specific Marusan reissue is actually an event exclusive in a set with a pink flesh Minya from a World of Godzilla art exhibition in 2015. There is a very similar-looking reissue from the 60th Anniversary series as well. It might even be the exact same vinyl and paint colors, but the 60-version 60th Anniv. reissues are made from an incredibly thick and dense vinyl compared to this one, and are a few millimeters smaller as well. They feel like heavy art objects in hand, and take some effort to even move the limbs! They should also have "60Ver. ゴジラ" printed on the bottom of the right foot like this:
Maybe a little bit too obvious with the paint app - but regardless these two sculpts also line up pretty nicely next to each other!
Thank you very much for all the information Mark, I came across with a few of the 60th anniversary but I let them through; Now I regret not having caught at least one. Some time ago I saw one that had the 60th anniversary stamp and on the other side the number of the variant it was but now comparing it with the catalgo you uploaded I can see that it corresponds to another number, for example came marked as # 4 but it´s the # 21, can this be possible? Also I am sure that at least I have seen twice the same colorway one in bag and another loose, are not supposed to be one-off or came out a micro run of each one?
Thank you and best regards!
@Alebrije - According to a recent message from Eiji Kaminaga, they are micro-runs of two pieces each. So, it could very well be that you saw both one loose and one bagged. I have also seen some discrepancies between the catalog numbers and the hand-numbered white label stickers on the bottom of the feet. I believe the original paper catalogs could have errors. On the ones I picked up, I was concerned that the permanent marker ink from the hand-numbered sticker was leeching through the paper onto the vinyl, so I removed my sticker. Blasphemy, I know.
Welcoming the recently-docked traveller. "Hey pal! Ya must be pretty pooped. Come on, I'll show you to the conjugal healing baths!"
