Jackie's previous thread about the Rebel made me consider picking one up as well, but, in all honesty, I'm looking for something a little less involved. i'm considering the Canon PowerShot 630 or 700, but was wondering if anyone had other suggestions. My toys are ready for their closeup! Thanks!
The canon powershots are amazing and really well reviewed. I have had one for a few years and still love it. I bought one for my parents who aren't the most technically proficient and they use it a ton without any trouble.
yeah i was actually looking at the powershot 900 too, but the video is only 15 FPS, as opposed to 30-60 for the lower-pixel powershot models. im not sure i trust the rave reviews its gotten so far, since its only been out about a month.
Personally, I'd get the SD800IS over the 900... I'd value image stabilization over a few extra megapixels. After 6 Megapixels, it doesn't really make that much difference. Another good recommendation might be the Fujifilm Finepix F40 FD... Instead of trying to get extra megapixels, Fuji concentrates on refining the CCDs to produce less grainy images at higher ISO speeds. This camera also has image stabilization as well.
I love my canon powershot so much. I highly recommend them. I am actually planning to upgrade, as mine is a few years old. I've never had a single problem with it. the only downfall (not much of one) is size. its a little bulky, but that is just because i take it everywhere.
I still use my Canon Powershow G2, which going back about 3-4 years ago was one of the best cameras Definitely Canon all the way ;D
yeah im upgrading from a canon powershot s410--was a real winner, but like missy said, its twice as thick as the current models that are out. plus, over time i noticed that the corners/edges of the photos became a little dim. the 900 is tempting, but im not sure if its cause of the lure of more pixels (which you guys say isnt a big deal). i suppose it seems like more of an upgrade to go from 4 MP to 10, rather than 4 MP to 6. i think ill sit on it another day before the splurge...im getting a pixma printer too. haha
