Yeah, the horrifyingly cute dog is Japanese ceramic. Not a toy, but too good to pass up.

If I am not mistaken (and I often am) that is a Troll Animal. Some are kind of rare or use to be. The Girafe I think is more of a common but still desirable. Not sure if Troll's are still much sought after.
