and now John Saxon has been added since the last time I looked. awesome. you can smell his cologne from about 4 tables away.
Hey, Roger do you know if the boys from M-1Go will have a table this year? I'd love to get some stuff from someone other than Scott this time!
Re: alternate weekend Looks like that will be right after the Chiller at the same location.[/quote] It looks more like 1 month before at the same location. I think we're all still shooting for the last weekend in Oct as that will give everyone plenty of time to make arrangements and Ramos will be in town. If anyone else wants to meet up at Fangoria or whatever...please continue.
While my friends from M1 Go have the table, they're not representing the company in any official capacity and haven't had much M1 Go merchandise to sell in over a year. It's a grab bag every time. Last time it was Tomy Star Wars bottle caps and Bandai sentai toys, the time before that it was mostly Konami Gerry Anderson and Aliens candy toys, so it's hard to say what they're going to have. And, of course, I usually have a little slice of the table to sell my own junk.
Roger, for a while there, didn't Marmit always have a table at Chiller? Or at least, if not run by Marmit, there was always a table with a fuckload of Marmit toys? Maybe I'm thinking of that dude from Ft. Lee who used to deal kaiju stuff....
That was probably Jim Cirronella from Club Daikaiju in Fort Lee, who would share tables with the guys from Japan. Marmit made a bunch of exclusive kaiju for San Diego Comic Con and he had what they didn't sell. Those things took forever to move, and they were ugly (even for kaiju). Jim got out of "the life" while the getting was good, but I still speak to him occasionally.
well i don't know whats up or going on, but just an rfso meet up sounds cool, OR the three way showroom action would be super fun too. all i know is that i didn't eat any meat for eight years, and i NEED one of those dogs!~!!
Ah, yes- bingo. Jim was good to deal with. Stumbling across his site back in 1998 or so was what really kicked my kaiju addiction into full gear. I would sit and click thru all the pics for hours....first place I glimpsed a Marmit Darkron......aaahhhh, Marmit Darkron......... You're right on the Marmit stuff they had- always a bunch of butt-ugly Toho Frankensteins and that Rat Bat Spider they did from Angry Red Planet....yeah, people weren't exactly lining up for those........
The Rat-Bat-Spiders weren't Marmits, they were actually Jim's own creation, a co-production between him and M-1 Go. Reptilicus and Gorgo were also his. (Incidentally, a Gorgo variant was one of the exclusives for Super7 #1.)
Oh boy…now I feel like a heel for mocking Jim’s own project…..it was a cool idea, the R-B-S figure (I actually dig Angry Red Planet), but I can see how it would be hard to move- too “cartoonishly” rendered for the hardcore sci-fi crowd, source material unfamiliar to the kaiju crowd….the Reptilicus and Goro were both great, tho…I actually bought a Reptilicus! And just so you know I’m not a total back-pedaler- I stand by my original assessment of the Toho Frankies as BUTT-UGLY.
Heh, that's alright. The RBS wasn't an easy sell because it was so big it sold for about $80-90. Plus that's the point when THE MARKET started its downward slide.
DAMMM, Roger just keeps dropping the old school knowlrdge.....this is some cool info.....R.F.S.O....fo' sho'....
hey east coasters, Looks like i may have a little upswing in work in september so i'm thinking i may try to make it out for this. I don't care much about Chiller, but i'd be down with the hangout, etc. Bryan
We're going to be there for saure-have already made plans for a sitter for y daughter and the lil womans been informed..Can't wait guys-should be a killer time!!!
hmmm...no posts for a while over here...thought I'd resurrect the thread and see if any new info has come up!
it's the saturday before halloween, right? I don't see why I wouldn't make it, I should be up in that area for chiller anyway.
