The day that I have been dreading for a while came today. We had to put our 13 year old Chow Chow, Theo, to sleep today. He has been going through kidney failure, and it had taken it's toll on him. We got him when I was 15, I remember it like it was yesterday. He was so great. I feel very fortunate that I got to spend as much time with him as I did. RIP buddy. I will miss you so much.
i remember you posted a picture of him when i made a thread about my dog passing away. such a great looking dog, i'm really sorry . remember the good times.
i am sorry you lost this friend/family member. putting a dog to sleep, no matter how much it is need, or, "for the best," is hard. i had a lasa opso for 14 years of my life and recently had to put her to sleep for similar reasons. it's tough, and my condolences go out to you. looks like he was a fine dog!
brooks--i feel for you in the truest sense, i love my doggie Max and i have been through the loss of a great, true friend. Max's thoughts are with you too:
I'm sorry for your loss. I remember one of the worst days of my life was when i had to put down my 12 year old wolf/lab. Our furry friends are irreplaceable.
One of my favorite pets was also pure black, a big sweet kitty. Pepper was 18.5 years old when he too passed on from kidney failure. I am sure that all here feel your pain and will share it with you. Best wishes, Jonee
Lost my dog of 18 years earlier this year so i know what your going through man. Sorry you have to go thru this.
My condolences. All I Really Need to Know I Learned from my Dog Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy ride. Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy. When loved ones come home, always run to greet them. Take naps and stretch before rising. Run, romp, and play daily. Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not. Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it. When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently. Thrive on affection and let people touch you - enjoy back rubs and pats on your neck. When you leave your yard, make it an adventure. Avoid biting when a simple growl will do. No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout - run right back and make friends. Bond with your pack. On cold nights, curl up in front of a crackling fire. When you're excited, speak up. When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body. Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
