Shazbat. He's into videogames too. He stopped by our booth at E3 a few years ago where this very strange meeting of the nerds occurred:
I think he just does 1/6th scale in general. I had a massive collection of Medicom 1/6th going back about five years ago I had everything they had ever released including protos, one off coaches, horse jockeys, etc. Later on I find out we shared the same buying agent in Japan to buy so when I decided to get out Robin took 60 pieces from me. He knows the business and he's pretty passionate about it. He used to get a lot from Art of Toy too.
I definitely prefer the psycho Robin Williams (as in Insomnia) to the 'funny' Robin Williams chattering 90 miles a minute. thanks. The 'exhibitor' badge he wore threw me off for some reason...
Marin, but he's in SF a lot. Hangs out in North Beach with Francis Coppola and Sean Penn, goes shopping at Union Square. He does unadvertised try-out shows at Cobb's sometimes.
Yeah, Penn lives in Marin County too. Coppola owns the Flatiron Building at Columbus and Kearny in North Beach, where he and Penn have offices. The last time I spotted Robin Williams was on Sutter, across from the Academy of Art's original building. He had a "please please don't recognize me" sort of look on his face, so I pretended not to.
I thought he lived in Sea Cliff? That's what I heard at least. So him going by Heroes Club (Art of Toy) on Clement makes a lot of sense. I think Robin at Heroes Club made some joke about the other Robin buying a lot of 1/6......
He's wealthy enough that it wouldn't surprise me if he had a place in Sea Cliff in addition, but his main home is in Mill Valley.
I was at the Karan Koron show at meltdown talkin to Slick when Robin Williams walked up to this piece and asked if he was the artist ...Slick smiled and took the price sticker off the wall and stuck it on Robin's shirt and he said I guess i'll take it..pretty funny
in the movie 'one hour photo' he gives a kid an evangelion toy as a present. in the commentary on the DVD the director said robin made him put that toy in the film. i'm pretty sure he is more into the mecha as opposed to the girls/characters.
was at that show too. could've sworn that robin spent a few minutes looking at meltdown's secret base display case!
