I applaud the fact that you can still talk to your ex girlfriend AND that she likes do stuff like this. good/bad is all subjective and if you're happy then that's all that counts. My wife still thinks they are dolls.
My wife's friends make my toys fornicate with each other EVERY TIME they come over. And they say boys are juvenile!
I actually do like crystal, and have quite a bit of Waterford and Orrefors crystal in my home as a matter of fact. I personally don't think it fits with the character at all. It might be your thing, but when I think of evils I think of...evil. Crystals just don't work on these types of figures in my opinion. If it's your thing that's fine, but you're right..you're going to get a lot of criticism about it.
my problem isn't the crystals or that it isn't standard kaiju fare or whatever the placement of them in general is obvious and boring; that is my critique i don't really like rxh much at all, but this goes beyond my opinion of the figure itself. i'll be the first to cut down myself, but at the same time i dont think my perceptions about aesthetics and the such are limited. it's cool you like it and cool that you wnt to do something different, but if i gave a bag of crystals to 100 people with this toy, probably 90 of them would stick them on in about the same places
I was holding my breath there for a couple of minutes but this is the worst RXH custom i've ever seen... you said your grandmother made this ?
youve been here for 4 months and this is the worst one you've seen? something is wrong with your eyes.
the crystals would look better if they were judiciously applied around a paint scheme. on the white is boring.
Not bashing YOU or your ex, but like everyone said, doesn't work. There's no rules to toys, no box or anything. BUT if they suck, they suck. Just my opinion, no hard feelings. Again, I appreciate you used a Solid instead of a production piece. ALSO plenty of guys appreciate crystals, but they call it "bling" and slap em' in their teeth.
i'd like to see your ex-gf paint the entire figure with rhinestones. kinda like the kiddies do with cell phones at the mall. that would be cool and much more interesting.
I saw a Takeyama slug figure where they did just that, and it was pretty cool. The idea of a slug being completely and totally covered in crystal from top to bottom actually sort of worked. But as for now I'm just waiting for the eventual RxH x Hello Kitty collaboration to float on down...
Balzac are currently doing things with Hello Kitty. I think it kind of works though. I wouldn't suggest it for everyone however.
I think it rules! Keep up the good work. I think this is exactly what the solid line was made to encourage.
Doesn't really bother me, I can almost see a sort of 70's-infomercial look (What was the name of that contraption on late-night ads to put studs and rhinestones on everything? And why do so many round-ish grandmotherly types seem to love sweatshirts with crystals on them?) My sis once covered an old mounted/taxidermied dolphin (the fish, aka mahi-mahi, not the mammal like Flipper) completely with crystals as an art project, it looked great - Somehow it came out quite spooky and alien.
That's the one! But, now that I think of it, is/was that also the name of a Flash online game to which women were particularly addicted? I can remember seeing secretaries playing it at their desks, it had rows of different colored jewels ...
