So who's booked for this one? I went through the comic-con website to get my hotel and it was just like a Scapegoat Release. Refresh, refresh, and then GO!
i know a couple of people who live in SD right now... so if i go, i get to save about $800. more to spend, woot! i didn't book ahead of time last year... i got a shitty hotel & it was expensive. carpet always felt moist because of the A/C
I wish! I went last year for the first time and loved it. Probably 08' for me though., I might go to Chicagos Wizard World, which now pales in comparison since I've been to SDCC, but I know people there. I might go to Dragon Con too since I just moved to Atlanta, but I'm sure it'll be nothing compared to the wonderland in SD.
I had a sweet room a block away just to have firefox crash on me. now im on the waiting list of the gaslamp.
Nightmare! Missed on the hotels I really wanted to stay at! Got one, but it is far away from SDCC. I am banking on cancellations this spring. Can't beat the W for SDCC, so much fun!
3 rooms for 6 nights at the harborview radisson reserved this morning....im on the Omni waiting list just in case they open up. I hate walking.
oh, so I was supposed to reserve a hotel already? What am i looking at in terms of lodging now? Can someone send me a link or direct me somehwere where I can figure out all of this nonsense? Thanks EDIT: Is there going to be another NERDQUAKE? If so, what date? I live in LA, so I'd only spend one night in SD and prefer it to be on the night of the living nerds.
My first year we stayed in a dive motel. We picked it up kinda late into the game, but it was in walking distance to the train. You should still be able to find something, but it may be quite a trek. Who knows though, keep looking around! Good luck!
We stayed at the Harborview Sheraton last year - not cheap, but a great hotel (with a good bar) and there was a shuttlebus to the con every 1/2 hour or so. The view from our window was just like the opening of "Gilligan's Island". I'd recommend it. Don't think we'll make it this year, unless I win the lottery or some previously unknown rich relative dies.
finding parking there is no fun... each day i went like 2 hours early and took me about an hour to park.
Sheesh... you're supposed to sell your car when you get there so you can afford to buy all the cool toys...
how did the whole Pushead arrival work? Did you have to get to the conv early and then wait in a line at the super 7 booth after the doors were open? Does anyone know if SB will be there again this year???
they passed out numbered tickets so you didnt have to wait the entire day. and last year SB had a spot with TT. chances are good they'll be back.
I've gotta get me that hotel room!! I'm going if i have to sleep outside the convention center. Edited: After spending a good part of the day searching and calling hotels to check availability outside of the reserved blocks, I got a room at the W!
I live in San Diego so I should be able to answer questions about where things are if you are looking for a hotel, places to eat or whatever. As long as your hotel is somewhere along the trolley line you'll be okay. Hotel circle in Mission Valley has some affordable hotels that aren't too far from the trolley line.
