I will be there for 4 days...I hope. Last year was a total head fuck:

    Jetslagged

I was in Tokyo for seven days, flew in the evening of Friday COmicon to LA, got up at 5AM and drove to SD on Saturday, finally got into COmicon at 11AM carrying a ton of shit I wanted a certain morbid mega-star to sign. As soon as I got in, I realized it was MADNESS. Spent all day going insane, buying so much stuff my arms were breaking, lost my wallet, ended up with Pushead leaving his table and helping me find it, hung out with Brian, met the adorale Dora, hung with Bwana, constantly missed Mars-1, found out that Oca wanted to meet me, and Pushead shuttled me to the Medicom stand where Oca told me about his gigantic henshin cyborg collection....

    whhuuurrrgggggggggghhhhhhhh

    Headf##k

during ths time I was completely Fing jetslagged, and realized I didn't eat one thing. SO at 8PM I bought two slices of pizza and got on the freeway. 25 minutes in I started veering wildly bcause dspite a caffeine ingestion my sytem crashed. SO I pulled off the freeway, parked and curled up in the back of my truck to sleep it off. I woke up a few hours later, freezing and totally confused as to where I was. Gooooooood times.

    Question

    Oh, yeah, the question:

Want that Gargamel Gamagon, and have pre-ordered and paid for the pink Jled, Biskup Egg and Town Crier , Alphonzo GID, and Soto Egg. Like the Baseman gold egg, but will have to wait for that one.

    Suggestions

Looking for suugestions on other stuff I should be looking out for.

I'll be at SDCC this year. I don't have anything special that I'm looking for. Whatever random kaiju I feel like buying. I'm sure I'll dump a load of cash at S7's booth. I'm looking forward to the Max Toy booth also. Most of all I'm just looking forward to the vacation.

I will be there for the whole thing. I'm actually doing a reverse headfuck - flying to California and then traveling in Japan for a week after the SDCC! ;)

In terms of shopping, the Chueh Possessed figure looks interesting, but that will be one serious line (still, should be worthwhile). Not much more than that - a Star Wars 501st trooper maybe. I don't tend to buy a whole lot at cons any more. But if I see some cool kaiju, I may jump on that, or maybe some nice customs. Not really feeling many of the already announced exclusives. Hopefully there will be some interesting new surprises on the way!

Mostly looking forward to meeting some friends I've made online and meeting some US artists whom I haven't had a chance to meet (Mario Martinez, Biskup, Baseman, Cabrera, etc). It will be my first SDCC. :)

Never been to SDCC before - actually going for the whole run (my wife graciously agreed to use this as our vacation this year). We'll see how long she lasts in a building full of geeks. She's looking forward to meeting Kozik, though (as am I).

I'd definitely be up for getting together for drinks some night - meeting people would hopefully cure me of the whole "associate the person with the avatar" problem I have. Plus we want to see some of the town - we're staying right on the beach (well, not literally ON the beach, but . . )

Toys: Preordered pink Jled (to match the green one) and FK Wermacht Bomb
    Frankenghost
Possessed (what exactly are these lines like? 1/2 hour? 2 hrs?)
    Pretty much any GID stuff
    Big labbits
    Blobpus's (Blobpi?)

plus smaller indie comics stuff - the non-pushy comic creators are usually really cool to talk to.

so is it confirmed that the chueh possessed figure is being released at SDCC this year?

as for lines...plan on several hours for one line. i think i waited in a 4 hour line last year at KR. might have been the KR 07 fig...or maybe the baseman black MOD. can't remember

I honestly think I would rather pay an extra $100 than wait in line for 4 hours for a toy. I would drive everyone in the line crazy and get my ass kicked by the third hour.

there shouldn't be any reason to wait in line for the possessed toy unless you want a)the toy/print pack or b)the variant color. unless production plans have changed there are 800 of the regular colorway, 200 of the variant colorway, and 100 of the toy/print packages. the print will either be of the original painting (of which there have already been 2 runs of prints made) or of the reworked painting which will be used on the toy's packaging.

i also hate lines, and there's no fucking way i could convince my wife to stand in line with me for more than an hour.

Yeah, its a different colorway, with blue as opposed to orange highlights. As far as Western goes, I still collect Biskup (altho I contemplated stopping after failing despite valiant efforts to get thru the Flopdoodle system whenever an onsale happens)....and I like the design on these.

We plan on debuting Possessed at San Diego Comic Con. There will be a party at Munky King Melrose after SDCC, where we will be releasing the alternate colorway.

Thanks again for everyone's patience. We know it's been a long time coming, but we really want to do justice to Luke's art.

sigh. sounds like the alternate will not be there... extremely curious what it will look like though

I am hoping they are waiting to announce the good stuff. To be honest, I am looking forward to meeting people more than I am getting any of the toys.

this will be my first year attending. i have one question, is stuff for sale on the preview night? or is it just so you can map out a strategy? also, is everything for sale right away? or do certain companies release stuff throughout the weekend?
    thanks

I don't know about preview night, but from past SDCCs that companies tend to space releases out over the days of the convention - which makes sense.

Ha ha ha - couldn't have said it better myself. My wife's pretty tolerant, but not THAT tolerant. And I agree with Knewnan - a four-hour wait is pretty much beyond my patience limit at this point in my life. I'm also looking forward to the community aspect much more than the purchasing aspect.
