We need more Shelterbank on this forum, I'll start. My Shelterbank corner.
I only have the one but I love it:
Dude I am all about this piece would grab one in a second if I ever got a chance. So good.
Seems like a lifetime ago I got this but it was only last year- so much has happened since then. Love this toy might have to go break it out as I'm having surgery tomorrow (biopsy- minor about an hour, but they're still putting me under) and it might be funny as I'm laid up for a day or two to stare at it lol.
I think they should make some more versions, like a purple head and bright green head...
I'm not at all too familiar with Shelter Bank, but I love what I see. Those furry plush(?) creatures are like Rat Fink meets My Pet Monster. The mummy dudes are super rad, too. I'd love to see a classic monotone spray job on that figure, especially of the Paul Kaiju variety.
Not liking the human face part. But the rest I dig.
@chimply.kaiju 100% agreed
Has anyone spotted the new VAG series for sale from any US outlets yet?
None that I’ve seen. And the overseas people I’ve seen with ‘em have only been gettin’ ‘em through gachapon machines, so they might not have even been offered yet. Hopefully they do soon, ‘cause those looks awesome.
The body of this one is definitely the most creative and charming devilman that I have seen in years, except the face... the face is... a little odd, but still has great character.
Now days there are so many sofubis that come out in vintage style, which I love very much, but some of them are just following the vintage style and have no charm.... this one is doing so much things right.
I like the appearance of the mask it looks more terrifying and the detail of the ribs sticking out, but I agree with you the human face does not finish pleasing me. For the vinyl and the paint, they used the same colors as the Deviman vintage bootleg, which I like very much and it also seems to measure 40cm, almost like a jumbo machinder, which can be a plus or a problem to fit it on the shelf.
In general I find it a piece very pleasing to the eye.
Just so you know, Shelterbank toys are actually not vinyl. They actually hand make them, rotocasting them out of a soft resin that has a similar feel to vinyl.
This toy is probably in scale with their World New Orders line.
Gah, that Mr. Derby is fuckin’ awesome. Reminds me of an old Devil Halloween costume I had when I was a kid, just way cooler lookin’ than what I wore. Super impressive their toys are soft resin, I never would’ve guessed. I held the Frankenstein and a couple of the smaller Ga - Lulu at Munky King. Both totally felt like sofubi. Makes me appreciate their process even more now.
When Devilman is done this wonderfully in toy form, it's hard to resist. I have so many questions... if this one is going to be made using Shelterbank's usual production methods, I'd think it will be quite limited... or does Medicom give them some sort of production assist, in the case of these releases? In any case, wondering if this will be open to overseas direct orders.
Also, it seems many of the World New Orders toys have difficulty standing on their own. Wondering if anyone who owns has tried/had success with the ol' heat and reposition method that's so helpful with vinyl. In my own (limited) experience with the softer resins, they don't seem to take to that as well, long-term... can even lead to some cracking in the material. But don't take that too much to heart, as I have no idea exactly what material Shelterbank is pouring. For the money, though, and at the large size, I'd hope this fella will be able to reliably stand on his own w/o a lot of intervention.
I was wondering about how well this will stand too. I hope it does properly. As for the design, I love it all, the starred eyes, the sharp teeth, the showing ribs and the goofy stance. For me, the cute looking face is a plus, kind of what anime characters are in general. Usually having very cute faces with huge eyes even when their alter egos are terrifying like this one.
The only part I'm not so sure is the size. Might be a little too big... probably will have to hunt down the World New Orders to keep him company.
I'm sure U.S. guys like TAG and Lulubell will get their stock soon, but if you're really keen I managed to grab these from oneup. They are real beauties, and are solid standers (something that I was worried about considering the body shape). Timeless character design
I grabbed the Devilman on pre - order. Was pleasantly surprised to see it stands 15”! I think it’ll have the same height as the Frankenstein dude I saw at Taste of the Orient. I’m excited as hell to get this one in.
I really dig this shelter bank, I just managed to pre order it. I love the rib cage and the mask a lot I think that it would fit so with my vintage devilmans. I am also digging the size, mainly cos I have been digging gigant vintages these days, but I think that makes up for the price. No so hot about the boots or gloves but, color, sculpt of the mask I totally dig. I also don’t mind the human face, it think it’s a nice contrast to the crazy mask!!!! Solid release I think....
Just re-reading this thread . . . I miss Lixx!
The Devilman is ace! No matter how I look at the human face tho , all I see is Twiggy and Goldie Hawn on “Laugh In”.
Excited that I won the recent Mutron lottery, and was able to avoid having to spend $300 on Mandarake to grab one. Anyone else?
I missed out on the lotto ‘cause of Instagram’s algorithm. I only caught wind of it when they posted the lotto’s closing “thanks”. Notifications are on since, but damn it. Awesome that you won, Joe!
