I can't believe none of us would have won anything. An update to the blog or something letting us know the drawing was done would be nice.
LOL! Very true. With Halloween and peeps probably partied out we'll probably hear something tomorrow maybe. We're going to enjoy the night and look forward to a pleasant surprise. Hopefully! ::crosses fingers:: ~Maddie
It would be bitterly ironic if people held back info on this lottery and then no one on the board won anything. Not that I would wish that on anyone, it would just be ironic. No evils this round so I'm safe anyways. That purple phase is pretty bad ass though.
It was a perfectly openly announced thing... all you had to do was pay a little attention, which you'd be doing if you wanted something and were looking forward to news.
Like I said, I don't wish that on anyone, it would just be ironic. I think the collector to flipper ratio is probably better here than on any other board. I didn't enter the lottery because I only collect evils, not from lack of warning. I would much rather the people from here that did enter won. Much less chance to them ending up on evilbay. Wasn't trying to be a dick, it just struck me as ironic.
Fair enough. The cynic in my says that, while we assume the actual posters on here aren't usually flippers, there are probably a legion of lurkers who use our babble for 'market research.'
I don't think RxH is the Belle of the Second Market Ball anymore. The flippers are focusing elsewhere.
It always intrigues me to wonder how many of "us" there really are. If you removed the flippers and opportunists how many "collectors" are there? I figure you would either be pleasantly surprised at the number of real collectors or shocked that we ever payed so much for the things we do. Certain drops make it seem like there are millions gunning for the item, others sit like not even 100 enthusiasts exist.
The short answer is that people will always buy the 'good stuff' whether or not they are collectors of a specific line. I am almost 100% certain that the clear Chaos and GID Fly Guy will sell out, but the 9" MH will be left. I doubt there are a bunch of folks maliciously buying to flip, but I think we are all a little more liberal with our wallets when it comes to potentially hot items. If you collect this stuff for any length of time, you will develop a good sense of what will have good trade value down the road and what will not.
While you might be right, it would however be pretty fucking sad if people did always "buy the 'good stuff' whether they are collectors or not". (personally I wouldnt consider buying a line I dont collect purely to use it as trade ammo later on - but we know people who do - and then have the gall to post how they'd love to get one in the next release. Why the F didnt u keep the first one then? Oh you let it go to spead the love (and coincidentally sold it for 2 to 3 times retail)). I also think the people who do this might be onto a loser with RxH -or in fact many of teh lines we collect. No ones going to pay much over retail these days. And as far as trade goes, the hardcore collector base is small, and unless its RxH for RxH - then someone who is a hardcore RxH collectror may not have anything other than RxH to trade - which isnt going to work for the person described above as they are obviously not a hardcore collector if they arent keeping it and just bought it to trade-flip it. ..... mmm, wordy, but I know what I mean. So in short - potential flippers or trade flippers - dont bother - its just going to even out, or lose u money in the end! An earlier question about what the true collector base is; As long as you make just enough that are less to go around than people who want them - then it stays hot. I understand it as a marketing ploy, but I dont partuclarly love it when I cant get stuff. Someone mentioned a collector base of 100 as an example. The truth is that some toys made in an edition of 10 are sought after, but make an edition of 20 - and they would be clogging up BST. The Elegab made to order strategy is great, and totally eliminates flippers. When this stuff does come up for re-sale its for retail or less. Its not a winner for Nari though as his toys arent chased/hyped as much - BUT they are readilly available to collectors - which is cool! But then being human I am of course conflicted - and also enjoy the chase too! And made to order robs you of the thrill. Anyway, back to the business at hand; So wheres that email from RxH USA then?
48 hours with silence is lame. Doesn't exactly speak to the 'togetherness' of this venture, which is something I'd love to see be a wild success.
hey guys I haven't heard anything either so I'm guessing I wasn't lucky either! feels like I entered a zollmen lottery
Congrats Kris! Speeds to check email...and finds nothing there ...... curses luck Check again - and WTF??? I got selected for a Chaos!!!! 1 out of 2 aint bad. NOICE!!!!! And a nice souvenir of the store opening!
Likewise. A fine way to end the night. We only went for one item and we got it. Purple Phase Mutant Chaos! Thanks Mori and Don! ^____^d
I got the Mutant Chaos, 1/1 for me, good Halloween night for me, and I really like the way they do the sale, so much less stressful, I have a slow Internet connection so I always miss all the "live" sales
