While buying and trading toys I run into what I call the "ship tax" very often. Sellers include total price of what they had to pay to have it shipped. I personally don't care how often a toy has been shipped because I don't think it should change price of the toy. If someone buys something overseas for 250 costing 50 to ship now they are trying to sell the toy for 300. I don't get it. Do you think the cost to have a toy shipped should be added to the overall cost and continue to add that every time it is shipped?
Ultimately, it often depends on semantics and it depends on the fine print. Personally when I sell a toy, the shipping, fees etc are all included. I honestly don't get when people list a price and then say add money for fees. Why not include them and be done with it? Some people say gift and add 4% fees which I dislike. They list a price for 50 bucks + fees and honestly I don't have time to sit there and do the math. I don't get it and avoid those sellers. Sales in my opinion should be simple. On this board it should not be complicated. Overseas sales are different..especially with people claiming 'lost packages' etc.
On the other hand, if you were the original purchaser, wouldn't you end up paying the $50 shipping anyway?
It's just how some people squeeze you for more money. I agree that it doesn't make much sense. They want to buy a toy. Open it. Play with it. Enjoy it. Then get back every single dime it cost them to get it in the first place. In essence it's like they get to own the toy for as long as they want for free. I tried to buy a toy listed for 75 bucks awhile back and the seller tried to add the 25 bucks they paid for shipping plus 15 bucks to ship to me plus the 30 dollar fee they paid ages ago to a third party in japan plus 4% for paypal plus 5 bucks for "the box and tape and gas to get to the post office". Needless to say I passed on the "hookup" and found the toy somewhere else.
^^^ This is what I'm talking about right here! That is insane sorry you had to go through all that. I have had people tell me "I paid $350 to have it shipped overseas and now they want $400 for it to ship to me overseas" Why not just take the $350 including shipping for it? I have paid for a lot of peoples shipping guess I'm losing money in the end. If only shipping was free for everyone. USPS sucks soo bad it should be free. Almost everyone I buy from on this board I send the payment through as friends and fam unless they dont want it like that to avoid the fees and doing math. I'm lucky and have not had someone burn me yet.
