so i've got my grandma and step-grandad staying over for 3 weeks. he is cool enough except he smokes his pipe and cigars 24/7, including when he's looking at my toy cabinet asking '...what the hell is this right here?' whilst giving me a weird look. i've always read smoke is bad for vinyl and lots of posts in BST mention 'comes from a smoke free home'. what's the deal. discolouration? makes it smell? melt!? lord bemon probably welcomes the pollution. i'm not that anal about it but now i've got a smoker in the house... ps a firestorm to purify.
Heck yeah, I'm a smoker but I have smoked outside for years. Just set up a small card table with an ashtray and chair on your porch and be like "there you go sir".
3 weeks is a long time. Seems like you're taking a big risk. I don't even let my gf burn incense while we're making out since I took up collecting vinyl..
haha. I like to think there's more to our relationship than the burning of sticks, but things were a bit touch and go the first few times I doused her incense with her plant sprayer. So now we've got a house full of those 'reed diffusers' which still stink up the place, but at least they do it cleanly.
Why does she need to burn incense while you two are making out? Smoking in the house is bad for everything in there. It discolors everything and the smoke smell even permeates the walls. If the weather outside is bad or he doesn't want to go out there, maybe he can smoke under a bathroom fan or the kitchen hood (as long as it vents it outside)
I wouldn't say she needs it, but she definitely wants it. As I am a student of Nabokov and Capote, she's a devotee of the Perfumed Garden and Anais Nin. The Nag Champa sticks still burn brightly over at her place..
its not my house, its my parents and they are cool with it. he is an old guy who likes smoking his pipe so they don't see a problem. luckily he doesn't smoke in the room where my toy cabinet is. thanks for the info anyway. re: incense...seems a tad OCD.
depends on the quality of the incense how cleanly it burns. it all creates smoke though, so unless it gets sucked out of the room or through an air purifier, it will settle in an even layer on everything and will build up over time.
