I think that perspective is why sometimes people who immigrated here from elsewhere make some of the best Americans. For many years I was close friends with a woman from Iran who I thought of as the most American yuppie I'd ever met because of her work ethic and positive embrace of how business works here. It was hard for her to return to Iran when she chose to but seeing what was possible for women in the USA gave her the conviction that she could work to empower women in Iran even within the increasingly Islamist-dominating system there. She loved movies and was able to get a women's filmmaking group together in Tehran after her return. Sometimes Americans who were born here have a somewhat spoiled perspective. We forget that we have it pretty easy in some ways. There are things I see that I sort of prefer when I visit other countries e.g. the intellectual sophistication in Europe that gets demonized by many in the USA or the very decent basic social values I've seen in Mexico that have gotten lost in a "me first" mindset in the USA, but ultimately I am very glad to have been born here and try not to take the positive things about the USA for granted. I'm thinking about a photo that a respected Skullbrainer posted recently, of his adorable young daughter hugging a Bemon. If the Bemon dude saw that and had a negative reaction because the girl isn't Japanese, all I can saw is "what a total sourpuss!" Some things transcend nationality.
Of course this is a great country, the whole point is that it's being fucking ruined from the inside out by this fucking piece of shit administration (well, it was started a few admins ago but has never been this bad). If anybody knows thing #1 about what has been going on in DC and the rest of the world they would see that this is quite obvious. I think the most spoiled way you can look at it is how life is for you as an american - with no regard to why it is the way it is. People talk about how easy we have it in the USA, and because of this a lot of americans have a spoiled view of freedom, etc. Well, there is a reason we have it so easy. Do some research if you have time to break away from the comfort zone. My girl is a social worker and we've been all over this planet, and have lived in areas far off the beaten path from your average tourist shitholes that US policy doesn't even affect so I pretty much know what I'm talking about. So yes, our freedoms rule. Our overwhelming variety of choices rule. But they're tainted by an incredibly small amount of douchebags that will tear it all down with the very same freedoms. Go Bemon!
hmm, it's the same with Australians... I mean it all started with UK convicts and it's only been what.. 200 year history? Which doesn't equal to too many generations of "Aussies". However you get your shit load of racists there. Also I don't blame the Japanese who have partial or full hatred against the Americans. Did anyone mention the Atom Bomb? This Bemon san probably lost some of his family from it?? Ain't most of the manga, TV and superflat movement a cause and effect from the bomb???
Oh man, each generation as far back as the civil war has said & thought what you already have about this country. I would think that the Vietnam era admin was the worst it has ever been. Do THAT research and compare cost of lives and money. I've done the peace corp thing for several years so I also know of "shithole" places in the ass crack of earth I've also seen and have lived with the dirt poor from my own country. If you have a prob with the admin then speak clearly and don't lump em all up as one state to "get wiped out". Someone might get the wrong Idea about you. Say what you mean and mean what you say..we cool. Go America!!! sha......
well yeah, that DC comment was a pretty blanket comment but it was a quick way to get an idea across on a BB...replace "washington dc" with "pentagon". There you go
Yup, but I heard that some duude in the mountains of Afganistan sent some guys to do just that. Almost did it to.. Osama something I believe. That was HIS quick way to get his idea across.
It used to be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay worse. You just didnt live through it. Great Depression, WW2, Segregation, Nixon, Cold Wrar, McCarthyism....way worse.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki where pretty heinous, but I think Operation Olympic would have been way worse. Also, the total firebombing of every large japanese city except for Kyoto, which was spared, killed many multiples. So, that point can be argued forever. I do believe tho, that Nationalist Japan started tht articular mess in 1936 by invading China etc. Like, they where the aggressor.
Let's just say that there's always fucked up stuff going on in almost every corner of the world and leave it at that.
I think this thread is going south. we all should respect everyones views even though we might percieve them as wrong. this is about toys and politics is nothing but a tool of division. bemon rules, japan and usa rule. let's all agree to disagree. btw, I would never go against another toy makers wishes out of respect. I just wanted to show my appreciation and ispiration. if that's taken with fear and loathing, that's all good too.
You think Bemon dude cries himself to sleep listening to "I wanna know what love is" The hate hides the hurt, is all im saying
what, like looking at that picture isn't torture enough?? now i need that horrible tune stuck in my head??
