yes..it is Iton. pronounced like "eat on" as in beet but not as long a vowel sound....not "it on" as in bit. i really like this guy and like i said, the body is not suppose to be viewed as the traditional body. think of it more as a character, the head (Iton) and an action (the body) so he isn't really suppose to be displayed in the traditional sense. it is not a typical head and body figure. it is truely meant to be handled and played around with and sitting around in a display case, a true toy in every sense of the word. he is fun to look at, fun to pose, and best of all...some girls think he's cute (proven last night at a bar. the bartenders wanted to keep him so i had to put him back in my bag).
great pics bert. Saw you again last night. you always look angry but the next time I'm up I'll introduce myself.
yeah...i always do. remember when your mom always said that if you make funny faces too much your face would stay that way...hahahahaha. i'm pretty tame...except on the ice. for the most part, i didn't really know who is who until Joe/whthalo pointed some people out. i'm just glad a couple of us went to the bar afterwards. i needed a drink.
I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be 2 figures. What people have been referring to as the the head is actually another creature whose mouth is wrapped around the clear figure's head. I saw Kiyoka pull the fish like head off one of his customs to reveal the clear figure's head inside.
It's Eaton. I put this online as Iton, fortunately Kiyoka and Koji were there to correct my misspelling. E-a-t-o-n.
hmmm...odd cause the header and the Gargamel website reads Iton. Joe, is it pronounced "Eton", "Iton", "Eaton", "E-aton".....
It's spelled eaton in the gargamel URLs: http://gargamel.jp/item/nice_middle/eat ... hoto01.jpg I'm assuming Eaton is the original spelling and イートン (Iton) is just how it's spelled phonetically in Japanese characters.
So does the regular/S7 version have a different head underneath? Any pics? If they pop one out with a different/more appealing (to me) head than I'd be interested, I DO like the body. That head though is just not my thing. I "get" it, just don't like it.
I know that the red and green head have been released but is there any date for the orange head/blue body? I still really like this figure. It's drastically different for gargamel and I like how it's not a retread or homage.
geez...all the pics I gotta take to make you guys believers...lol. At the moment, Eaton is still a bit unfinished. Just wait and you'll see. From the stuff that I heard, this guy is going to be awesome. The concept alone makes this figure worth buying. You just need to get past the body being a body.
Something about the design reminds me of Pinya... maybe the whorls on the body. I agree. Even if it's not patchi or zokki kaiju, or an unlicensed reproduction of an obscure bootleg kaiju toy, it conveys a certain very... Japanese aesthetic, for lack of a better descriptive term. The body whorls provide a nice offset to the smooth curves of the Eaton-head.
Exactly... And right now, there is no 'head' underneath. If you pop off the eaton (head part) then it looks like a whirly body without a head (severed at the neck)
gotta say how after seeing this piece in person today I was won over...excited to see other versions released... I was a little dubious when the pics dropped...but this figure has a lot going for it when you have it in hand... still sticking to my preference of matching the body color with the head though...I've already seen at least one version in pics that does this and it takes it to another level...
agreed. I'm really looking forward to the orange head/blue body release. In hand this sculpt is very unique.
