This is my 'Sprouting' Eyezon custom, on GID vinyl. Full write-up on my site:
    http://prometheusrising.wordpress.com/2009/07/20/kaiju-eyezon-sprouting-glow-in-the-dark/l

My thinking was that this was right after Eyezon was mutated, so the glow is all of the energy that changed him from a potato to a giant potato monster, but he is still colored like a potato, with earthy colors for the body, and light yellows and greens for the arm and leg 'sprouts', with magenta growth tips characteristic of a real potato. He still glows awesome (GID shots hopefully tonight) as most of the colors are very lightly applied and/or transparent.

Let me know what you all think!

Thanks! Rest assured, the glow shot is coming. When I get home from work tonight it will be nice and dark.

OK, glow shots were a success! Here's the best one, with a couple more angles on my site:

It's funny, you can see a couple of paint spots that got away from me, and the scratch I made on one of the eyelids while cleaning up the eye ball borders!

Gee, I think I like this one better than most of the 'official' customs. Painting the eyes with two different colors makes such a difference.

Very imaginative take on the sculpt, and great work.

Ben, you've really outdone yourself on this one! Your airbrush skills are coming along at a frightening pace! ;)

I'm not a HUGE fan of how you did the eyes (something about mascara on a kaiju... ), but it's cool. The body, however, is absolutely fantastic! I love the splotchy look on the body and the red tips on the spikes and fingers. Awesome job, man!

Oh, and of course, nice choice of avatar! ;)

    Thanks for the comments!

The eyes actually came out necessity... the masking fluid I put on the eyeballs peeled up a little bit of the eyelid paint, so I had to cover up the roughness. I figured at least if I used the same magenta color they wouldn't stand out too much, but I ended up needing slightly darker lines that I'd anticipated. They might stick out a little bit in the light, but I really like the border effect they give the eyes when glowing!

ben, this looks amazing...i echo the comments already made: as good as, if not better, than most customs i've seen. the stippled/splotchy brown spots on the abdomen are genius. and did Sanjeev say your skills are "coming along"? meaning that you are just beginning? wow! i can't imagine what is coming next!

Thanks Future_Man! Sanjeev did point out something there... I've only had my airbrush for about a month now. I'm not new to putting paint on a model though by any means, but airbrushing and vinyl customs have been a new endeavor for me. I've got some RxH blanks to work on next, and then I'll have to prowl around for more kaiju to paint!

i wonder if instead of black eyeliner if you used a color closer to that on the body

good job though - i really like the application on the body

It's actually the same magenta as I sprayed on the tips of the sprouts and around the eyes, but as a brushed-on paint it obviously turned out much darker than when sprayed.

    Great job Ben!

I'd buy it if it was a production piece.

I already have 5 of them and it would look great next to PK's GID.
