http://bongripper.bandcamp.com/album/miserable new Bongripper came out earlier this month. I'd say its their best album yet.
I was initially the same on the new Sleep - I think obviously it was gonna be REALLY tough to live up to expectations, but since then, with repeated listens, it's actually really grown on me. Same thing happened withe new Bongripper... 1st couple plays had me wishing I liked it more, but then last week something clicked (uh, but probably not coincidentally that was my first listen while in the proper "pruney" state of mind?) SUPER stoked for new Yob release in a couple months, too!
I really dig the new Sleep instrumentally. not as much lyrically but the song as a whole, I think is great.
New Pallbearer, Foundations of Burden, full album streaming at pitchfork! Up till Aug.18 http://pitchfork.com/advance
http://pitchfork.com/advance/523-clearing-the-path-to-ascend/ New YOB streaming at Pitchfork. Fuckin solid! Ended too quickly for me, but I'm sure ill listen to it a hundred times over the next few years
If you like Stoner Rock, some of you might like the Mojave Lords featuring Dave Catching (QOTSA, EODM), Brian O'Conner (EODM), Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees), and Bingo Richey. Special guests include Chris Goss and Joey Castillo. http://lasthurrahrecords.com/mojavelords-preorder.html
This album is so good! Really builds on the sound from the previous album. I can't get enough of Pallbearer!
Saw Bongripper last night in NY. Soo fuckin heavy! Their live show is unbelievably good. I got a download code for their Miserable album that i dont need. If anyone wants it just PM me.
I took this pic of Mike from Yob when they played St. Vitus this past December. Incredible as always.
Re: Stoner/Doom New Sword song: http://www.theswordofficial.com/ And for the first time it sounds like a major (for them) departure from how they typically sound. Will be interested to see how the rest of the album sounds.
Windhand has a song from their new upcoming album streaming. https://soundcloud.com/relapserecords/windhand-two-urns-radio-edit
