strange or rare yahoo auctions post here (after theyre over)

@HBCoffin It is very difficult to get a normal Kikaider 01 on Yahoo at this price，given it is much rarer in Japan than in US. I definitely think those black lines were painted by the original owner, maybe by some kid's parents.

 

@Roger @Kirara Sorry for the crappy photo but, yes, they still glow. Despite what the seller wrote in the auction listing I'd bet the Ghostron still glows, just not as brightly

I was trying for him also to complete the set, but no luck.

I was talking to a friend about this today and he reminded me that this is actually not one of the glows. This is on ivory vinyl, just looks similar to glow in natural light and was a mislabeled auction. There are 3 ivory bullmarks. I forget the other two, but he told me. Mark, the last glow you’re missing to complete the set is gudon

At the risk of being wrong again, I believe the ivory vinyl releaser were Ghostron, Arstron and Dungar. There is also an extremely rare ivory vinyl Minilla.

Extremely rare transformation period Peguila ended at 223,000 yen. I only saw this on auction twice in the last two years.

Also the same seller has an blank model of marusan mid-sized ultraseven, which I never knew its existence before. Is it a 1980s' bootleg or a legit one back in 1960s?

Man I really like this standard size Riderman and I haven't seen many in the past year or so, but I wasn't expecting it to realize 5k...

 

@knights_of_old Thats a lot but not too surprising. They were close to 3k ten years ago when they would pop up. If you are a kamen rider collector this is one of the grails for sure

@knights_of_old - On average it does feel kind of doubled, but I think it’s just specific characters and toys. There are certainly exceptions to this and other things that have remained consistent.

@Kirara - The elusive Mechagodzilla. I had been hoping to see this one after it was teased along with that blue vinyl fan version earlier from the same supercollector. I had heard that some shops in Japan previously had MG’s for sale at ~500k yen but those days seem to be over and the toys have now gone into collections. I am only aware of four public auctions since the big 2011/2012 luvsumi2001 and socius listings (three MG examples sold between those two back then). Other than a few very sparse private sales in Japan and the US, I now hear that current verified examples in Japan sell at retail for over a million yen. That would almost be unbelievable if not for that YJA auction from the resale shop in December 2020 that sold for 1,222,100 yen including tax. It was a very clean example, but that is still a steep number for a Bullmark soft vinyl toy. After losing every auction over the years and missing some rare opportunities, could this finally be the one for capturing the MechaG?



Also, this auction makes for an interesting comparison with the mystery one from July that sold for 264k yen. I am still curious whether this one was a clever counterfeit or not, and I am unsure after spending some time comparing photos. The various light sources used for photography do not help as sometimes the vinyl on the vintage examples looks to be a very sandy/beige/khaki color but aging or environment could also be affecting the hue. In other photos with possibly different light sources the examples seem to have a more standard gray vinyl color. There are also claims of possible variants and prototypes and other interesting nuances to consider. It does not help that both Bandai in the 90's and now modern Bullmark have reissued the sculpt in gray vinyl and there are many customs out there. If anybody has information or an opinion on this one I would be interested:

Then there's this. I'm unsure what to make of it. The seller claims it's not a reissue, although from what I can tell the sole Nokogilin later reissue was produced in a similar red base color to the originals, so... is it possibly a 1971 sample, or a 2012? The low final makes me think there's something obviously not very special about it, but I'm still wondering

 

Hmmm, this Yonezawa set is interesting, as far as i was aware the Arstron mini shown in this set was always thought to be made by Bullmark, it is shown as such on Mandarake and Club Tokyo, maybe made for Yonezawa by Bullmark??

 

@djkemp I wouldn't have made that connection, and had forgotten about the second Arstron mini. Great call.

You are right, and now I'm having a hard time with that Jack figure. The head seems to match the Bullmark Jack mini (or is heavily influenced by it), but I don't recognize the fixed-arm stance body. I'm also wondering who produced the skates, what material the skates are made from, and at what point they were put together!

I'm kind of upset we can't see all of the illustrations under the tracks. From the glimpses, I'm guessing it's based on the same art assets from the Yonezawa helmet series header card.

Edit: The Nissho soap set of Jack and Arstron are based on these sculpts, as well!

Astonishing...

I'd never personally seen images of the actual Jumbo Machinder Lensari projectiles and before now I imagine most other collectors familiar with or devoted to the line hadn't either. An older auction bundled the same missiles found on the XX-11 Heavy Tank Z—these were a bit larger and longer than the standard red and white rockets that came with a majority of the super robots. I assumed the oval launcher was designed with the intention of housing 2-3 of them to be fired all at once. I guess the seller just threw them in assuming they went together, or perhaps thought no one else would know better and doing so would help drive up the price. That specimen also came with a box which made the pairing less questionable.

Anyway, it's really exciting to see that a unique disc projectile was especially crafted for this one figure. Much like the balls included with the Taihou Buffalo, it appears spider and scorpion symbols representative of Destron are embossed on opposite sides.

Taking into consideration everything included and the condition it is truly a marvel... maybe a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I don't think the auction for the talking Poseidon resulted in an actual sale for 226,100 yen. If you look at the closed listing, it shows zero bids. It seems like the seller ended the auction early when the price didn't approach what he was willing to sell it for with 226,100 yen being the last bid.
