I must admit that I don't think I've seen an issue of Gorezone from the U.K. we haven't had it over here for ages, and when we did it was primarily photos as I remember. what kind of stuff are they looking for? reviews on new films? articles on older stuff?
haha thats what i like to hear skylar i think you and your lady should open your own toy shop, you guys would be great. someday i want to have my own old school style sideshow/tattoo shop. called the tattooed lady. with me and my friends beth and crystal who are also tattoo artists. with all kinda of awesome oddities inside, so you never run out of things to look at when you are getting tattooed. we have a lobster lady that comes into my work, how sick would it be if i could get her to work reception. dream on jessie...

I'm currently a student but I would like to pursue a career in Graphic Design. But thinking realistically, how will I live?
my ex boyfriend was a graphic designer in montreal before he was a tattoo artist and he made an awesome living, working for a store called dex, doing all their packaging and stuff, it seemed pretty easy for him to get work, you can definately make a living. he also did a lot of logos for clothing companies, i don't know where you live though i guess that effects the amount of work.
read tests for the blind...it's a great job and if your in an urban area, plenty of work, pays good too, even when the client doesn't show up! most interesting and enriching job i ever had was assistant to a coroner. If someone died in their home in the middle of the night, i would go and pick up the body and bring it back to the office. This was during the height of the AIDS crisis and young men were dropping like flies all over san francisco. i quit the job when i had to go pick up someone i knew pretty well. still, i learned a lot from the job and it was never boring. already mentioned but, hey, prostitute is a good one if you got the equipment! never boring, ALWAYS interesting, and sometimes surprise bonuses!
Most unrewarding job I ever had - proofreader. If you're perfect, you're completely invisible, but ANY error that gets out the door means you didn't do your job. Close runner-up - cleaning cages for a veterinarian (I mean, the dogs were sick when they came in ... ) Most rewarding - flower delivery. All day long, people telling you that you're wonderful and thanking you effusively for something you didn't really do. Occasional hot revenge sex when delivering 'forgive me' flowers. Would probably be boring eventually, though. Think about demographics - with the Boomers aging and dying over the next 20-30 years, we'll see 1) unprecedented demand for medical and home-care services, 2) the largest generational transfer of wealth in the history of the world, and 3) ever-increasing markets for anything that might briefly make geezers feel young and cool again. If you already get paid to write, Roger is correct that this is a skill which will never go out of style (or be at risk of easy robotic displacement or outsourcing to Lahore). Plus, these days writing allows you to work anywhere you can get on line - you can live in a low-cost location and earn in a high-income one. Whatever you do, if you have fun doing it most days (nothing is fun every single day) you're a success. Read an interesting article recently, saying that entrepreneurs are 5X more likely to be dyslexic (Richard Branson, etc.) than the general population. They can't easily read and follow other people's instructions, so they tend to work for themselves. They don't waste time on endless memos and reports. Lots of tasks they struggle with, so they learn to delegate fully and find creative workarounds. Interesting that we have several graphic-design people here. The design folks I know who work for big companies seem bored, the ones who freelance have more irregular income, but seem happier. When I was a kid, my fantasy was to run a combination deli/photography shop.
medical profession. Can be very rewarding, although you do have to talk to deaf old people. But usually they are the most charming and grateful. Oh, you might have to measure an old guy for a truss. Don't know how it works in the US but I started as a dispenser with not many qualifications to my name and worked up from there. Pay is crap to start with but if you can cross over to pharmacist the worlds your oyster.
A close friend of mine went to a Tech school for a year and got a job right away as a Pharmacy Tech( I guess that would be "dispenser" in GB?)
yeah, dispenser is old-fashioned term these days. In the UK you can go quite far as a technician now, even doing the final prescription check/ward rounds.
