Allen is a GREAT guy. When he told me he was selling Obscurities to open a laser-removal business, I thought he was nuts. But the work he does is top notch. I always mean to get a little removal work done when I visit Dallas, but I'm always out there for SusCon and never have time to do it.
I snapped this for a friend earlier today- Biomechanical Incubator on my leg by Guy Aitchison. It turns 19 next year. Time flies I guess.
Guy did that on me when I was "practically 18" (heh) in one 5.5hr sitting. Back then I still liked the process of getting tattooed. These days I dread it. The funny thing was some old biker at the shop telling Guy that outlining with no pigment would "fade in a few years".... and almost 19 years later, its still going strong. (the alien baby was blood-lined)
did he do a lot of alien babies or is that yours that I had already seen/ heard of? Did you protect it from UV at all? One of my old artists had two sleeves by Guy. A bad azz egypt themed one and big bugs like praying mantids on the other. Never seen a tattoo so awesome in my life. Actually that was probably my introduction to proper tattooing...
He did a fair amount- the weekend he did mine he did a very similar piece on my friend (and tattooist) Mike WIlson. Back in those days Guy was more into Giger styled bio-mechanics than his current organic stuff. It's on my leg and I don't get a lot of sun; but otherwise no special care.
figure i'd add a few more of mine...All done by Kenny "you should see this dreamboat of a guy!" Brown. these are our cats as Stormtroopers: Sake (holding blaster) and Sifu (holding helmet). the likeness to their actual faces is so ON POINT. part of my imperial probe droid sleeve (need to find a better pic)
Figured I should post as I got tattooed by Ken Brown a few days ago. I love it. I wanted a traditional/not so traditional chest piece. It hurt.
it looks awesome Alex! im scared to get my chest done. my wife isnt though...maybe thats why shes tougher than me. stoked you got to hang with your old crew. sad i didnt get a chance to meet you while you were in town. you and t-rex were like 2 seconds from my job when you ate at Mikes American Grill. it killed me when i saw how close we were in prox to each other. did you get a chance to chill with Pattisal? still hope to meet some day. i really enjoyed your 2009 comic con coverage. esp the first question you asked Kozik! easy, tony
really love the traditional with an oddball twist stuff like that. Very well done. Two of my buddies in Pittsburgh are great at that, I need to go see 'em
haha! UDO...when I worked in a record store all the metal guys tried to convince me UDO was cool...maybe they were right
Fast as a Shark - Though ruined by a cover by RATM, is still one of my favorite metal songs of all time.
